Eating Out

Maddie had a good night tonight at taekwondo, and afterwards the entire gang had a splendid time over at Taco n Todos, the Mexican food place about four storefronts down.  It was nice celebrating all the big things of the summer, from the Battle of Atlanta to several of the team members going to Little Rock this past week for a great competition there.

Meanwhile, Mom and I were doing work at the office, getting a few things done there for Sunday and the upcoming new series.  We actually made a trip to Braselton to get a lot of props down there, and yeah, the temperature was spiking a good bit.  But the amazing thing is that it rained a good bit (again) and cooled things off for us.  Earlier in the day we had a great time at the Wisdom Club, and that's just wild to think I'm going to all these Wisdom Club events as an attendee.  As in, I'm sitting there with Mom enjoying the meal there (for the most part - our extreme diet of late is limiting!).  And we also enjoyed - very much - the message from Dr. Rutland, who was our guest speaker.  He was fantastic as always, and had a new book that he was offering.  We got some for half-price, and even got Dr. Rutland to sign our books for us.  He remembered me from a few years ago when we were doing our skits for him on stage, and we talked about that briefly.  His new book is about being joyful in older age, so it should be a good read.

While Maddie was eating tacos, Mom and I were eating at Texas Roadhouse!  This strangely enough fits within our diet plan.  I had this steak salad that was just amazing, so much so that I might get it again next time.  Mom got her usual:  the six ounce steak cooked medium.  Add to that a salad, and she was gold too.  We had a nice time.  Busy night there, and of course there's all the line dancing and atmosphere.  Yee-haw!

Tonight's big movie was "The Fantastic Four."  No, not the new movie.  We'll see that next week.  Right now, we're watching the old ones in preparation for the latest release.  Amazingly, this first movie came out before Maddie was born.  It's a decent movie with fun action sequences and some great performances.  Dr. Doom isn't written exactly as I remember him from the comics, but it's still worth a watch.

We read from our book after this, meeting Dr. Whiteface and the Fool's Guild.  Not to be messed around with!  A mystery in unfolding in Ankh-Morpork, and the City Watch is out to find out what's going on.

After that, it was time for prayers.  It was a good day today.  More rain is on the way tomorrow, and with that a welcome change in temperature.  Time for some sleep!
