SX14: Water Day

Here we are at Water Day again, usually the end of Summer Xtreme, and a day filled with water balloons, squirt guns and large water slides.  Madison is seen here at the base of a water slide, ready to squirt unsuspecting victims as they plunge downward.  Yes, it's somewhat redundant.  But it's fun, and that's what Madison had a whole lot of today.

Here's Daddy and Madison hanging out for a moment together.  For a time, Daddy had immunity while he was holding the camera.  But such things came to an end when someone offered to actually hold the camera - the immunity - so that we could pose for a group shot.  It was then that Daddy got soaked from various directions by hoses, sprinklers, squirt guns and more.  Fortunately, the dunk squad was not near at the time.  These are a couple of guys who walk around with large gatorade tubs or just plain storage tubs - they look for unsuspecting prey to dump all that water down on.  It gets pretty wild on water day.

As you can see here though, Madison was able to hold her own.  She's armed and ready again, and pretty much squirting everyone she sees.  Yes, including Daddy, the camera person:

And so Summer Xtreme came to a close in a fun way.  The morning services were special, with worship and a message from our former children's pastor.  The games and skit were fun, and the atmosphere was electric.  We had a DJ this year, and the kids were just absolutely wired.

But all good things must come to an end, and this year more than others it seemed it ended a little too soon.  We weren't quite ready for it to end, despite the fact that the staff and volunteers - and kids for that matter - were completely exhausted.  There was a bittersweet spirit tonight, happy at the week that happened and grateful to be a part of it - but sad to see it go.  No question about it though:  lives were touched.  Madison enjoyed the week for what it was, and we were happy to see her exposed to a deeper level of worship - and we were also happy to see her make new friends and have new experiences.  We're sort of biased, but we can't help but recommend it to every family with children.  Signing up for Summer Xtreme 2015 can't come soon enough for some!
