Day Two of Summer Xtreme was perfection - we were back to the Summer Xtreme that I remember, and the momentum is here for a most incredible week. As you can see above, Madison is ready to hit the pool today! We started out with a fantastic service in the morning, continuing our theme of wildfire. The music, the games, and the energetic crowd were all there. In fact, the kids were so excited that the service started a little later, as the tribes were competing with each other for more and more points. The concept is that with the games and the cheers and the dancing and the shouting, each tribe wins more and more points. Only one can be the victor at the end of the week - last year it was the Luchador tribe. This year, I'm thinking it may be the Cowboys or Ninjas, based on the sheer size of those classes. That's the 3rd and 4th graders, who each require two buses to get anywhere.
Here's Madison with some of her friends from KidPak. These are older friends, of course, who have been with KidPak for a while now. The weather forecast yesterday was a bit on the "looming" side, as there was a fairly good chance of rain for the day. But God was gracious, and the kids found themselves swimming in fairly warmer weather, with a bit of cloud cover, and no rain at all.
But that doesn't mean they didn't get soaked! They spent the rest of the day at Frances Meadows Water Park, doing cannonballs and belly flops off the big diving board inside, or floating along in the mini-river (one of Madison's favorite things to do), or at the water playground set, complete with water squirting guns and slides and all kinds of water-related gizmos. Madison didn't go for the big water slide this year, but that's just fine. She did get a snow cone from Daddy at the end of the day, and Daddy got something even better:
So another day was in the books for Summer Xtreme 2014. Dismissal was perfect with the cars picking up children, and the night of planning was early: we decided as a staff to cut back on the service aspect tomorrow (Wednesday), and simply enjoy time with the kids at the Georgia Aquarium. It will be a great day tomorrow - and we're getting some rest (all of us) tonight. Looking forward to tomorrow, and a good night's sleep.
ARRR!
