New Silly Face

This is Madison's new silly face, a sort of zombie grimace where she moves her lower jaw over a bit.  You can almost hear her saying, "Duuuuuhhhh....."  She felt compelled to show this off this afternoon, and after a brief modeling of the facial expression, she wanted to capture it on camera for all time.  And so here it is above, and after some fooling around with the computer and a lot of other weird shots like it, here's another with a flashlight:

Today we had church once more.  We say "once more," because we've essentially had church all week.  Today is the Sunday after Summer Xtreme, which traditionally means we all race home afterwards and desperately try to catch up on all that sleep we lost the last few weeks.  This sort of thing doesn't usually happen - it takes days to catch up on that.  Just ask Josh, who usually sleeps in until one or two on Monday.  With Madison around, that's sort of difficult.  But Daddy still had to take a nap this afternoon.  Madison woke him up around 5:30 or so, and he trudged downstairs to join the family.  We didn't do much this afternoon, and that was okay.  We've done a lot the last few days, and we'll catch up on the "homework" this week as things begin to settle down.

As for service this morning, it went well.  We spoke of Judah, and praise.  The skit portion of our service involved teaching the kids seven ways to praise, which is always a fun thing to act out.  In the first service you could tell who the Summer Xtreme participants were, because we were all so tired.  Yet everyone was able to jump up and raise hands, clap, shout, sing, play instruments, dance, and bow.    It was sort of a rapid-fire "Simon Says" game, where we had the kids doing all of these in random order.

Tonight we went to bed early, of course.  We have a big week ahead of us, and a big summer ahead of us too.  With Summer Xtreme off our minds somewhat, we can focus elsewhere on the potential of what's to come.  There are a lot of chores and things needing to be done, but then there are other possibilities and plans as well.  One big thing is Madison's birthday party - we've got to get that one settled down, don't we?  Just one week away!
