SX14: The Star Spinner

The Georgia Aquarium was on our destination list today, with hardly any time for service at the church.  Atlanta is far away enough and we wanted to maximize the fun at the aquarium.  The children arrived at Pendleton Park, where everyone had Chick-Fil-A waiting.  Daddy and the others got there early, ready to hand out the sandwiches and drinks to all the children.

And after that, it was time to enter the aquarium.  We timed it in such a way that we could see "Dolphin Tale," the new dolphin show at the aquarium.

It was a huge auditorium filled with people waiting to see the dolphins do their thing.  They were spectacular, doing amazing things.  It was impressive to watch - but the show itself was pretty crazy.  There was a guy named the Star Spinner, and once he started opening his mouth, a lot of the sixth graders were laughing - it was pretty cheesy!  But it was cheesy in a funny way.  It may have been an attempt to copy something you'd see at a Florida theme park, but it fell very short in that regard.  The dolphins, again, were amazing.  But the bit with the Star Spinner was pretty hokey.

But Madison and children of her age thought it was great.  Here's Madison, right there in the theater.

They were paying close attention, cheering and singing where they needed to, and enjoying the entire show!  The younger kids loved it too - and once it was over, the kids were off and exploring the rest of the aquarium.

We took a lot of photos at the aquarium.  The room above is the ultimate destination at the aquarium.  It's relaxing and hypnotic, watching the fish glide by in the water.  The tank is massive, and of course so are those whale sharks.

Madison's favorite place was where the penguins marched, where she could crawl through a tunnel and come face to face with a few of the birds.  Later on at the gift shop, Daddy got her a pink penguin doll - she named her Strawberry.  Madison had time to visit many of the exhibits, seeing all kinds of fish and whales even.  It was a great day - on the way home, all the volunteers and kids fell asleep pretty quickly.  Quite a bit going on this week!
