World Elephant Day

Today is World Elephant Day, which is a day I think a lot of people can get behind.  I mean, who doesn't love elephants?  Readers of this blog know how much I love random holidays and celebrating them in various ways, so tonight we sat down and watched an old movie that I've never seen before - in fact, none of us had.  It's called "Larger than Life," and featured Bill Murray and an elephant.

It had other actors too, but the main stars were these two as they traveled across the country together having misadventures here or there.  It was a pleasant movie.  Not a laugh-a-minute sort of movie, but we enjoyed it for what it was.  So Happy World Elephant Day!

Anyway, this morning we started out with Team Edge practice of course, and Maddie enjoyed that as always, training hard alongside some new inductees on the team.  It's growing, and getting better too.  Meanwhile, I was putting some finishing touches on tomorrow morning's next service for "The Spirit Awakens."  Here we go with our fourth version of that series, starting tomorrow!

Mom and I went to visit Nana after that, first stopping at the grocery store to pick her up a few things, including some sherbet, which helps keep her mouth from being too dry.  She ate that entire container of sherbet, actually.  And then drank for Mom, which is apparently something she won't do for others there.  We were happy to have her getting something to drink and eat, as her meals have been few and far between.  She was resting again, watching television - or at least a channel that shows picturesque views of mountains, castles, and wild animals while playing peaceful music.  We sat and talked for a while, and the same topics came up again repeatedly, but that's okay.

Tonight we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner, and that place was packed.  It was a great meal though - I just wanted a steak!  We had our meal, and got home to celebrate elephants after that.  Speaking of elephants, oddly enough, there are no more peanuts at Texas Roadhouse.

It was a hot day - too hot for comfort.  Warnings were sent out this morning about how hot it was.  Fortunately, some rain came our ways and cooled things off a little, although the humidity is pretty strong out there now.  It's just summer in Georgia, and wow, is it a scorcher.

We read tonight, and we said our prayers.  It's been a good day, but we're going to get to bed early tonight, because this schedule here is really wearing us out!
