It was a fun night, and the temperature had cooled somewhat to make it more enjoyable out there in the parking lot. The kids had a great time.
The rest of the day included taekwondo, of course. Maddie enjoyed a typical Friday night at Edge Martial Arts. Also, she got her new nunchucks in the mail, and that was a great moment for her. Everyone likes her new nunchucks. I'll have to share a photo of those later on, but she'll probably use them Saturday morning with Team Edge practice.
Mom keeps herself busy, and it was just a coincidence that she had scheduled herself to help with a fun group of people packing food for Haiti.
Mom met up with Josh, his sister Amy, Eliza's mom, and many, many others, gathering together in somewhat of a production line with loud upbeat music and cheering, all packing away food for Haiti. It was an all-day event, where people signed up for various shifts and got busy. It looked like a lot of fun!
Maddie was at school while this was going on, of course. She did really well on her history test, getting a perfect score. Maybe even a 105, which is pretty cool for a start! Given the challenges of AP World History last year, this ordinary US History class is perhaps a little easier. Overall, it was a good day at school. Maddie's art teacher spoke with Mom on the phone, introducing herself, and Mom being an art major also had a lot to talk about with her - the two had a more lengthy and enjoyable conversation about ceramics, and what's to come in class. It made Mom want to sign up herself! We'll be going back to that pottery festival soon enough - less than a month away!
Speaking of which, that same week - again - is Camp FCY. I was planning that out as well today, or at least creating graphics for it. We're all over the place with planning, including Christmas and of course this weekend, and then the newest series upcoming, "Extraordinary Tales from the Bible." It's a mouthful to say! We have an intern that I've asked to create the graphics for this series, and this is what she's figuring out so far...
It's getting closer. I think the explorer's mouth needs to come in somewhat, not quite as much of a jaw-dropping experience! But the overall look is getting closer to what we can use. It's going to be a fun series!
We ended today with an episode of "Monk," and then we started a new book, "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents." I've read this one twice now, plus we've just seen the movie. But Maddie hasn't heard it yet, and she was ready to go back to the Discworld. We're just getting started, but it should be a fun trip back to Discworld.
Closing out the day, we said our prayers of course, and it was pretty late. It was time for some sleep!
