We saw "Jesus Revolution" today, and the theater was packed. Maddie, Mom and I brought a few small water bottles in and a few pieces of candy, and that was about it for snacks this time, as Maddie's thinking the popcorn butter gives her a bit of a headache. No worries, Maddie. That's saves us $20! Seriously though, the movie was a great visit to the past, a historical sort of movie that looked at some of the revivals of Southern California in the late sixties and early seventies. My parents were what you could call "hippies" and got caught up in the tail end of all of that, so it was great revisiting this story, hearing the music and seeing all the clothing styles too. Maddie enjoyed the movie, as did everyone who saw it with us - the audience clapped quite a bit! Now we'll probably have to go back and keep picking up some of those obscure vinyl records from Christian recording artists from the 70's. There is some great music from that time.
Anyway, today we continued the Saturday pattern of "a visit with Nana and then a movie." We spent about 45 minute with Nana, the three of us, and it's becoming painfully clear that her memory is diminishing very rapidly. She's pleasant and can carry on conversations, although with repeated questions, and she doesn't seem that bad on the surface level. But we're meeting with the staff there about her on Monday, and that doesn't bode well. We're concerned.
We had Team Edge practice this morning, and that went well of course. I went to work, putting the final touches on the services tomorrow. It's going to be great!
Leaving the driveway, Maddie reminded us of the lone egg hanging in our tree in the front yard. Yes, we apparently didn't get all the plastic eggs last year when we put them on branches at Easter time. When it came time to take them down, I must have missed one, and because there have been leaves on the tree, I didn't realize there was a plastic egg in that tree all year long. We've gotten to the point where we just want to keep it up there. Might as well, given that Easter is less than 40 days away, right?
Meanwhile, Maddie was calling it "The Lone Egg" on the way out the neighborhood, followed by an impressive list of other Star Wars-related egg titles:
The Phantom Egg
The Attack of the Egg
The Revenge of the Egg
A New Egg
The Egg Strikes Back
Return of the Egg
An Egg Awakens
The Last Egg
The Rise of the Eggwalker
Rogue Egg
Egg Solo
The Eggmas Special
The Egg Wars
The Book of Egg
The Eggalorian
Eggdor
Eggles
Eggsistance
The Bad Egg
Eggsoka
I have no idea why this was so funny. It just kept going on and on, and that's okay! Anyway, we got home tonight, and we were playing Super Smash Brothers somewhat, and pretty much just getting some rest. We read tonight, of course from the devotional and also from "Reaper Man," which we're nearly done with. We said our prayers after that, and soon after that, it was time for sleep. KidPak comes early tomorrow!
