Presidents Day

We visited with Nana today, and that was nice.  She seems to be okay, although all she seems to want to do is stay in her room and sleep, which is really no better than when she was at our house.  We took her down the hall eventually, after a bit of convincing, and there she ran into some friends where she played bingo.  I'm not sure if there's an activities director there, but I think one of the primary challenges with Nana is having something to do.  Hopefully she can settle in with friends and activities, but it's somewhat worrisome for Mom.

Everyone slept in this morning, and after that we were rolling with a few activities, one of them a visit to the chiropractor, where the three of us got adjustments and then some.  It was a nice day, so Maddie and I wore our traditional Hawaiian shirts to the chiropractor, because he does as well and it's always a fun ongoing thing.  Also ongoing is our Star Wars themed game where we start off in the lobby trying to each say a Star Wars character or item with a name that starts with each letter of the alphabet, all in order of course.  Qira, Qui Gon Jinn.  Xizor, X-Wing. You're welcome.

We picked up some bird seed for our hungry birds, and then later on we were over at the Texas Roadhouse in Cumming.  Just a note:  we like the Gainesville location much, much better.  Not that it was a miserable experience.  I've just had much better steaks.  Still, it was nice for the three of us to get out and have a dinner meal together.

We watched "Ant-Man and the Wasp" tonight, and I just have to say I love the bit about the importance of washing the undercarriage of your car, which was hilarious.  But the movie is super fun.  It was a nice day,  a quiet Presidents Day.  I think the only time we actually thought about a President was when talking about Jimmy Carter, who has been ailing of late.  He's 98, which makes him the longest surviving President ever, and notably one of the more productive Presidents after his term of office, which ended way back in 1980.  Of course, this day set aside because of the birthdays of Washington and Lincoln, but I do think it has shifted to honor all Presidents somewhat.  Even the one currently in office, Mr. Biden, who's accomplishments lately have been staggering.  Literally.  Seriously, it's been a tough few years, and the joke has been made about Jimmy Carter being happy to live long enough to see someone eclipse his notorious time with the Presidency.  But hopefully Mr. Biden can turn things around.  We'll just leave that one there.

that we closed out on with reading, both from the devotional and then the Discworld.  We said our prayers after that, and then came the realization that Maddie doesn't have school tomorrow.  And we don't have any appointments with doctors or whatever.  And we've already visited Nana today.  Why not... actually go on a day trip together?  Like one of those trips farther away to some place new, just the three of us?  Yes, I think we can do that... it'll be the first time since 2020.  But tonight we were doing some research, wondering where we can go tomorrow.  The weather is just too good to pass up on this opportunity!
