Return to the Red Apple Barn

Today we were back at the Red Apple Barn, and it was a perfect day to make the trip.  Originally, the forecast was for rain, an eighty percent chance of rain.  And in fact, it misted all morning with a shower or two on the way over there.  But once a small mist dissipated from the mountain orchard, we never saw precipitation again - at least not while we were there.  It was overcast, which made the temperature perfect, and everyone had a great time.

We had our traditional music playlist ready to go for our drive, and once we were there we did all the things we love to do - the tractor ride up the mountain, the games of corn hole, cinnamon apple doughnuts and cider, painting rocks... oh, and picking apples too!

The Jonagold apples were there to pick, but we picked a few new ones - September Wonder and Enterprise.  We sampled the September Wonder right away and it's pretty good.  We got a bag, enough to contain a peck of apples, and came home with quite a bit of apples, plus cider and the usual bag of taffy and peanut brittle.

It was a great day.  I gave Maddie the camera for a good bit of the time, although I took some pictures myself. Still, many of the pictures you'll see below, particularly the ones in the orchards with apples, are taken by Maddie.  Enjoy!

Not much time when we got home, but we did relax and watch "Pinocchio," the 2022 version.  We had a nice meal together, a rotisserie chicken I picked up on the way home, and after the movie it was time for reading, and prayers too.  We were all quite tired, and tomorrow is an early morning of course.  So off to bed we went, resting well through the night.
