Camp FCY

This part of the blog may be more for Maddie in years to come, as we weren't there at camp.  But Maddie took some pictures and I found a few on the church's site, and it looks like Camp FCY was a lot of fun.  Maddie was texting here or there, and she's having a great time.  She's been in the pool a lot, and during services she's been taking a lot of notes in her journal.  She's making new friends and she's been having fun with the games there too.  The food has been good, which you'll see her pictures of too.  The grounds are beautiful, and they happen to be on the South Carolina and North Carolina border, which is interesting.  Part of the camp is in one state and the other part is in another state.  Maddie's cabin was in South Carolina, from what I understand, and there were activities and games in North Carolina, so there was a lot of passing back and forth between the states.  She would have to go all the way to North Carolina for certain things, and then go back to South Carolina after that... anyway, that was interesting.  It's called "Carolina Point" for a reason.  Anyway, she's having a great time, as you'll see with these pictures below.

While Maddie was having an unforgettable time with Camp FCY, the rest of us went to something interesting up in Sautee, the 14th Annual Pottery Show & Arts Festival.  It was pretty fun - we'll share some photos of that below that I took with Mom's cellphone.  There was a lot of rain recently, but it cleared out for us all.  We were going from booth to booth, looking at all the pottery.  Of course the big pottery families were there, and they had exhibitions inside to look at, along with all the creepy faces that I'm not sure why I would ever want one.  But they're famous and worth a lot, and again, I'm not sure why I would ever want one?  Still, it was interesting.  The other pottery bits were nice to look at, as were all the crafts.  At one point, we got hungry and got some really delicious - and messy - barbecue ribs that were cooking there.  It was either that or Korean food, which I'm not entirely sure how that fits in with the whole theme.  We went with the ribs, as Mom loves ribs.  We were listening to the band play as we ate and then walked around.  About fourteen musicians or so sat in a circle on stage the entire time, just jamming without music sheets, following one another's leads as they played banjo, mandalin, harmonica, stand-up bass, guitars, fiddles, and more.  I was hoping for some spoon-clicking, but that might have to wait until next year.  Maybe I can train myself to do that!

There were some preserved historical sites there to see, some I've never actually went inside before.  And there was actually more to do there than I anticipated.  We had a great time, actually, spending a good deal of time there.  Afterwards, we just went a tiny bit down the street to the Old Sautee Store, because you have to if you're in the area.  We picked up some old candies and sodas, and spent some time looking around there as always.  It was fun!  I'll close out with some pictures of our good day there - we all had a decent day today.
