Returning from Camp

Maddie returned home today, and she had a lot to say!  There were many adventures and powerful services and just a big adventure at camp.  This was her first camp that she had gone to, and she definitely can't wait to go back next year.  The early analysis was that this was even more fun than Forward, I think mainly because she got slightly more sleep than she did at Forward.  Slightly.  We were texting and following along with posted photos elsewhere so we could see the camp and the services ourselves with photos.  Maddie shared some of her personal photos too, the selfies and the fun ones of the girls squeezed into the cabinets in the cabin.  Up until now, the only camp she knew was Camp Kikiwaka, which probably gave her all kinds of ideas about what camp was like, true or not.  But it was still something to look forward to, and in hindsight, something she enjoyed quite a bit.  She got back about 1:30 or so on the buses, along with all the other students, each one groggily getting off their charter bus, collecting suitcases and looking around through the crowds for parents to transport them home.

It is Labor Day, and obviously this being in the middle of the day cancelled out any other activities.  But Maddie would probably be too tired for anything else anyway, as once you get home, the reality that you can really rest now sets in, and that's what she was doing for a bit.  At least once lunch was over with - we had gone out to get a few items before heading home, such as corn and gluten-free ice cream cones.  The corn was nearly all gone, but we got the last four good ears, I think.  Maddie was there shucking corn in the grocery store, checking on the corn to see if it was okay, and we walked away with four good pieces for our meal when we got home.  I was out there at the grill, getting hot dogs grilled.  The rainfall was sporadic today, but there was this super small window right there at the time I was grilling, so that all worked out well for our meal.  We had a nice Labor Day meal together, with grilled hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans, salad, and hand-picked tomatoes from the garden.

Maddie did have some studying to do, because teachers don't believe in holidays or things like that.  Yeah, there was a quiz Tuesday after Labor Day.  Still, she had a little time to study.

We watched the latest episode of "She-Hulk" tonight, but that was all we had time for after her studies.  Maddie was tired, and of course we have school tomorrow. So we got cleaned up, and got to reading again after a three-day break from the "Mysterious Benedict Society."  And then after that, prayers.  She had a great time at camp, and we are so happy for her.
