This morning getting up and ready for school, Maddie spotted the elf on the shelf, and a Wookie on a cookie...and a Santa on a Fanta too! Her December morning routine continues, finding Jingle in different places each morning, and opening her daily Star Wars LEGO advent calendar, putting together a unique creation inspired by "The Mandalorian." We say our prayers, and less than ten minutes after we leave the house, she's walking in the front door of the school. Today she was taking midterms as the first part of the school year is wrapping up - we're inching closer to the end of this year.
Uncle George arrived today - I picked him up at the legendary MARTA station down there at North Springs. He came in order to see Maddie and the family for Christmas, his timing more for black belt ceremony that will take place tomorrow night. Still, he and the rest of the family got a sneak peek at the Team Edge routine that was finally performed for someone other than immediate family members around practice time: they did their performance for the younger students today at class, giving all those younger kids something to look up to and aspire to become. Some day... Maddie was one of those younger students not long ago, and now here she is on the other end of it. The performance went really well, and everyone was clapping at the end.
And that was it. We drove all the way over there for about a three minute performance. Of course we were there a little longer than that, but there wasn't much to today. We came back, and Maddie was studying for midterms while the rest of us were watching Christmas movies and shows (a new holiday cooking show caught everyone's attention), and catching up with conversation too. We finally saw the next episode of Hawkeye together, which ended with quite a surprise. We've really liked this show.
Afterwards, it was time for reading and prayers. We just might finish this monster book before Christmas. Maddie was asking about what next to read, and I was like, "There are still four other books in this series printed, and one more due out in the spring." We're good on that for a while.
Anyway, it was off to sleep tonight. Tomorrow's going to be a big day.
