Sunday Before Christmas

Evidently, Jingle has been reading the Kingdom Keepers books lately too, as we spied him reading a chapter from book two this morning.  It just so happens that this chapter featured Maleficent, who just so happens to be RIGHT BEHIND HIM!  LOOK OUT, JINGLE!

It was a KidPak morning, and it was a great conclusion to "Christmas in Neverland," where our beloved Captain Hook caught a glimpse of Christmas future, a dark-robed eerie presence with a crocodile head.  Of course, he learns a few lessons and that is the beginning of the Great Christmas Truce.  Of course, the war goes on after that, but for just one day a year, all is calm, all is quiet.  Hook even gives a gift to Tootles, a bag of marbles, which I thought tied things in a fun way to the Hook movie.

We got home, and I took a nap.  Yep, no shame in that.  I got up at 4:45 this morning so I could drive Uncle George down to the MARTA station, where we said our goodbyes after a short visit.  This afternoon, Maddie got her shower, and soon she was off to Free Chapel Youth to join in with their Christmas party.  They had a great time, and she got some free gifts tonight as well.  I wasn't there though, as I went home to get Nana and go for a walk down to the main street of our neighborhood where we could watch the now yearly Christmas parade.

The Riverstone Subdivision Christmas Parade - or whatever name they want to call it now - was very nice.  It was very cold outside, but we brought along some chairs, and a blanket too.  Nana and I sat along the sidewalk and waited for the participants to come rolling by.  No horses this year, but there were kids on decorated bicycles, lots of decorated golf carts, and then decorated cars as well, all playing loud Christmas music and throwing out Christmas candy to the spectators on the sidewalk.  Here are a few pictures of tonight's parade.

It was a nice evening.  We walked back home and dashed over to the fireplace to get some warmth.  I went to get Maddie and pick her up from the party, and after that, it was pretty much time to get settle down.  Maddie and I read from Kingdom Keepers a bit more, and after that prayers.  After that, Mom and I settled down on the couch in front of the fireplace there to watch a Christmas movie, Patrick Stewart's "A Christmas Carol," one of my favorite versions of the story.

It's cold tonight, and that makes sense because it's winter.  We snuggled down for a long winter's nap tonight, pretty worn out from the long weekend.
