Oh, Snap!

This was the news of the day.  Along with Bucky Barnes, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Groot, Star Lord, Drax, Mantis, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Hank Pym, Hope van Dyne, Janet van Dyne, it seems our elf and reindeer friend have fallen victim to Thanos' snappy comeback.  As of this year, all these heroes' fates are in question due to the events of the last Avengers movie, "Infinity War."  Some day we'll look upon this year's waiting - it's a unique time where we're all wondering exactly what we'll happen to our beloved heroes.  Back "in the day," of course, some of us had to wait three years to find out what happened to Han Solo after he was frozen in carbonite.  And more recently, there was a year-long wait to find out what happened to Captain Jack Sparrow after he was swallowed by the beastie.  So this isn't anything new, but it's a fun time of speculation and wondering.  These movies easily make over a billion dollars, so there's a lot of cultural interest in this sort of thing.  When we posted the picture above online, it got a lot of laughter - a lot of people got the joke.

This morning continued the traditions of the season, with our daily Star Wars advent calendar and the chocolate advent calendars too.  Tonight we read from Luke, from the Scrooge devotional, and a Christmas story or two from our collection.  It's a sweet time at bedtime each night this season.

As for our day, we had a nice, relaxing day off today.  We were spending a good deal of time wrapping and setting up for Christmas, watching Christmas movies all day long, and making Christmas cookies too!

Madison and Daddy spent a really long time designing Christmas cookies of all shapes and sizes today.  We had ugly Christmas sweaters, mittens, Santa heads, stars, trees, and more.

Mommy made the shapes, and then Daddy and Madison spent maybe two hours doing nothing but watching Christmas specials and designing different cookies.  And maybe eating a few sweets along the way.  We also made some taekwondo themed ones!

Ninja bread men, right?  And look what else we made here, something that now hangs on our tree, and hopefully fro this point on:

It's a Grinch ornament!  Madison and Mommy had these transparent ornaments that allow you to put things inside.  So with that thought, we took some remaining pieces of the Grinch costume that Mommy had made, and cut off some of the green hair, putting that inside about ten ornaments.  Then, we made a heart shape out of glue and put some red sprinkles on that.  The ornaments were complete after a bit - we created a nice souvenir for each member of our cast this season.  They're all getting a Grinch ornament tomorrow!

Everyone is a bit under the weather today, and so we opted to stay indoors and hopefully recover sufficiently enough that we don't endanger ourselves (or others) in the upcoming holiday.  We watched the live action version of "A Year Without a Santa Claus," and went to bed early tonight, all of us.  We've got a big next few days, don't we?
