Jingle Bell vs. Snowflake! Round one... FIGHT! Our elf took on a Street Fighter look this morning with a backdrop from the game, a few controllers, and a Chun Li character on the side there as a gift. Madison did so well as Chun Li that this was a nice reminder of her time with the character during "Level Up."
Tonight was our Christmas Movie Bash, which was a lot of fun for Madison and the other kids that attended. We had a whole lot of children there, and a whole lot of pizza too, I might add. One could say too much pizza, in fact. But regardless, there was popcorn and fun for all the kids. We watched the movie, "The Star" together, and it was a great balance of fun and meaningful Bible story. We "tested" it a few weeks ago and thought it would work out for the movie bash, a new movie for the kids to see, one related to Christmas.
There is weather coming, but no one knows to what extent. On one hand, there's talk of ice. And maybe snow. But other weather reports indicate just a cold and rainy day. We'll see how it goes, but it is certainly affected how we approach our efforts at church this weekend. It's not just a small service of course, but a ginormous cruise ship we're trying to turn at a moment's notice, one with a hundred and fifty kids in a choir and rented lights and hundreds of volunteers and so forth, all waiting for a decision to be made if it will be safe enough to come to church early. The meteorologists aren't quite sure enough to make that decision yet, and there is a lot on the line, when you consider the hours of practice and preparation. Daddy's part in the church's upstairs Christmas play is pretty much over with, although Mommy has been instrumental this week in getting the kids costumes together for the Nativity scenes, as well as dressing some volunteers as elves for the area where Santa will be meeting everyone. It's a huge production, and we're sort of on pins and needles about this forecast, which is still amazingly uncertain, even after a whole week of knowing things were coming. Regardless, we're pressing forward, and of course hoping for the best. No one wants ice, right? Whatever happens, it will work out!
In the meantime, today was fun. Madison did school work and we did work towards the weekend, and then there was time to enjoy the movie bash tonight together. Tomorrow, we'll have more fun as well, as sit and wait on the final verdict from above.
