A Visit from the Mini-501st

As you can see here, Jingle Bell got the 501st to come by and well, at least it is a miniature version of the 501st!  They came by and got Madison a little present, a new ornament:  R2-D2 with some porgs!  This will no doubt go on a branch tonight and add to our Star Wars tree.  We have a lot of Star Wars ornaments, gathering up at least one more each year.  This one will be a happy little memory.

Madison donated a lot of her old toys to Toys for Tots this morning, hefting around this big bag this morning to school, like Santa Claus carrying a ginormous sack over her shoulder.  It was rather weighty, and the marine there was rather surprised at the sudden increase in donations, all by one little girl.

She took her math test today, but also did a few other things as well, including a skit during her science class where she and a few other girls played old women.  She also learned some sign language as well, and performed "Jingle Bells" for Mommy and Daddy tonight.  Well done!

Obviously another thing that happened this weekend - obviously - was the goat going up in Gavle.  We watched a bit of that celebration today online

Also, the funeral for President George H.W. Bush.  A note about him:  he was the first President that Daddy voted for.  He turned 18, and the very next day was Election Day for a US President.  So by one day, I was able to vote for President, and in this instance, the guy I voted for won the election.  We liked President Bush #41, as did many people.  But back then a lot of other people were pretty vicious, and they're all suddenly wanting to act friendly like they were always loved the guy.

Madison studied for her test pretty hard, and had a big day, so we watched a movie tonight that she was wanting to check out.  We watched a new Christmas movie tonight, one called "The Princess Switch."

We popped the popcorn and sat together on the couch for a "super" Christmas movie, or at least one that was pretty good.  It was exactly as advertised, corny and predictable.  But it was a very pleasant and fun sort of movie that the three of us enjoyed, with a few fun moments along the way.  Six thumbs up!

Afterwards, it was time for bed.  We read from Luke, chapter 3 tonight, including a bit of lineage.  And we read from the Scrooge devotional as well, and then finally from Nutcracker book.  There is a lot to read each night!  After prayers, and then zerberts and accusations of who made the smelly noise, it was time to retire for the night.  It's been a nice day today.  We got the wreaths up, and did a few other things along the way, so I think we can be happy with it, even if it's a Monday!
