Invite the Grinch... Destroy Christmas!

"Invite the Grinch... destroy Christmas!"  Mayor Augustus Maywho has so many profound words of wisdom about "pulverizing Christmas" and "putting your back into it."  But this Grinch above looks fairly harmless, or at least we hope.  You can see our finished product above to the left, our gingerbread house for the year, the one with a Whoville theme to it.  It's not technically house, but rather a facade, but it's decorated on both sides.  One side shows the exterior, and the other the interior, obviously.  We worked a good while on that and set it out last night, and of course our elf was inspired to dress up like the Grinch, and I suppose Snowflake there is Max.

We were busy today making Christmas cards, and doing a bit of shopping as well.  Oh, and a bath with peppermint bubble bath in it - quite a different thing taking a bath and smelling like peppermint!

Mommy was making reindeer mix all day, her famous Christmas treat that people clamor about.   I'm not sure how one exactly clamors, but from what I understand, there is a lot of clamoring about her delicious creation.  No one makes it like Mommy, and it's one of the most requested Christmas traditions around.  Once you start munching on a little bit of the reindeer mix, you do not stop until it is all gone.  It's addictive.

Madison has a lot going on this week, the final week of school.  Other school systems get out earlier, but Forsyth starts their winter break next week.  That's okay, because we can do things later too, right?  She's got some really big tests on Wednesday, so tonight she was doing some studying for them.  She studied yesterday too, so we're proud of her for staying in the books.  We did go to piano class tonight, and Madison gave her piano teacher a little Christmas present, which was appreciated.  After class, we went home and watched a few Christmas specials, including "The Toy Story that Time Forgot" and "A Charlie Brown Christmas."  With popcorn, of course.

By this time, Daddy knew he was getting a little sick though, coming down with pretty much the same thing that Madison had this weekend.  Oh well - at least it's not that bad this time around.   There are others dealing with the flu, and that is no fun at all.

The weather was really warm today, an impressive sixty degrees outside.  It felt great for the time we were out there, and tomorrow is supposed to be similar.  Cooler weather is coming back, but it's nice to see the sunlight again for a little bit.

We read some more tonight from Luke, and from the devotional as well.  We're one day behind on both, but it timed out well:  while with Luke, we were reading about the story of Lazarus, and with the devotional, there was a similar story about Jacob Marley.  Both featured someone wanting to come back from the afterlife to warn his wicked friends to repent.  Afterwards, we read some more from "The Nutcracker," which is winding down.  Sugar Plum is clearly damaged goods, which makes going to your standard Nutcracker a little more unusual.  Each time you see that graceful ballerina, you sort of get all judgmental:  look at that villainous scoundrel prancing out here!  Don't trust her!  She's going to make an army of metal soldiers and put us all in jail!

Regardless, we're enjoying the book together, and it's almost done, just in time for Christmas of course.  We said our prayers afterwards, and then the zerberts and accusations of who made the offensive noises and how bad they smelled.  Traditions are important!
