Toy Story is my JAM!

We woke up pretty early this morning, just after 4am, actually.  The reason was rather unusual:  the entire house was shaking.  Mommy and Daddy woke up, and for a time wondered what was going on, going through the usual list of thoughts before going back to sleep again.  But when we looked at the news this morning we discovered that yes, in fact it was an earthquake.  This was a first for Daddy, believe it or not.  Madison slept right through it:  the epicenter was up in Tennessee, as you can see from the map above.  The strength of the earthquake was a 4.4, which of course isn't anything ginormous.  But still, all the way down here in Forsyth County, we felt it, and felt it enough to actually wake up in the middle of the night.

When we woke up in the morning, it looked like our elf had seen the teaser trailer for "Toy Story 4."  You can see a few of the classic characters there in the pose from the teaser, all holding hands in a semi-circle, including our elf, the reindeer, Mr. Pricklepants and right there amongst them, Forky the spork. We're not sure about this character at the moment, but nevertheless, there he is amongst these other characters.

Tonight was our Christmas Under the Stars event at the church, and the weather was just right for this sort of thing.  Yes, it was pretty chilly.  Keep in mind though that it is December.  Compared to the weekend's weather, this was very nice in fact.  There were plenty of inflatables for the kids to jump in, a small train, food trucks, and of course the outdoor service itself.  The gazebo at the top left there was where Daddy spent most of his time, a sidekick to Santa, moving people along in line and so forth.  It was a long time there, but it was great to see so many kids so enthralled!  He spent a long time with each kid, really taking his time and having a nice conversation - it was a perfect thing to do.  The photographs were nice there as well, with the small trees and the gazebo there, with Santa on his chair alongside all the others.  We were there for hours.  But it was a great night, one that I got back late from, ready to dive under the covers and stay warm through the long night.  No earthquakes tonight!
