Honors Night

Tonight Maddie had a Honors Night event at the high school, a chance to honor all the students for their hard work these last few years.  It might be the last time Mom and I will be at the high school, not that we were there much over the last four years at all.  But Maddie enjoyed dressing up and meeting her fellow students once again, and there was this brief moment where her name was called out and she went across the stage to get her certificate.  We'll repeat this process again on graduation night of course, but tonight was a smaller scale, and with cupcakes!
   

We celebrated by coming home to finish the Planet of the Apes series (for now!), and watching "Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes," which we hadn't seen since theaters some time ago.  After that, of course we read from Discworld, where our story in the kingdom of Lancre seems to be moving along swiftly - just what will happen to Granny Weatherwax and how will she get out of this scrape.  We said our prayers, and soon after that, we were ready for sleep.

Today Maddie had a pleasant afternoon.  Her friend Nate came over for a good while, and they started things out with a Bible study, and had a few meals over the course of the long day, lovingly served up by their chaperone, Mom.  Mom spent some time making food for them as they sat together talking, playing Mario Kart a bit, and some other games too.  Maddie had a good day!

The weather outside is gorgeous, so nice and cool and just perfect.  Time to get some sleep though.
