Rainy Trip Down

Here we are, back at Buc-ee's again.  This was taken at the one down in mid-Georgia along I-75, a well-deserved rest after that rot otherwise known as Henry County.  It's a well-documented route of pure misery.  Driving through Atlanta is nothing.  Driving through Henry County is awful.  Words are failing when trying to describe how utterly terrible that stretch of highway is, although some time ago I wrote a poem about it.  You'd think someone would have figured something out by now about how to deal with that traffic, but no.   I think if someone ever does, a Nobel prize is clearly on the table.

Anyway, thankfully there's a Buc-ee's not much further down.  Mom, Maddie and I were shopping around and looking for something to eat there.  I actually got a cool Buc-ee's Hawaiian shirt there, plus a Fourth of July t-shirt too.  Maddie got a bbq sandwich, and we all got something to eat there actually.

And look!  Joey was there too!  We get the sweet tea, and usually some chicken salad, and just spend some  time walking around, stretching and looking at the different items for sale.  There are traditional places to pose too, of course, which Joey found right away.

And then we were on our way!  Here's Maddie and her latest plushie, Tater Joe.  We had a long drive today, one full of lots of rainy weather.  Unbeknownst to us, there was actually a tornado that crossed over I-75 later on today at 5pm.  Glad to have missed that!

We got through to Florida, and filled up our gas tank at the other Buc-ee's down there in Jacksonville after enduring rainy rush hour traffic.  By that time we were wanting to stop at Cracker Barrel for a nice meal, which we enjoyed together (after figuring out how to get there, getting off the exit!).

It was dark when we arrived at our hotel, but check-in was easy.  Long drive today, made longer by all the traffic and rain.  But Mom remembered the rain-x, and that was a great, great thing.  And really, we made it okay, and that's what matters most.  We passed by the port and we're right there next to the where the ships will be.  It'll be easy in the morning.  We said our prayers, surfed for a bit - and I even wrote all this out, and then... it's time for some sleep!
