National Tape Measure Day

Today was National Tape Measure Day, and as far as certain days measure, it wasn't too bad.  Maddie's small group tonight had an activity where the girls did a "Price is Right" style game and had to guess the length or width of certain items in Camille's house.  She had a tape measure nearby to give the final answers.  The small group has been good lately, with each girl taking turns delivering a small message for the night.  Each one has to prepare and speak on something from the Bible, of course, and that requires studying and preparing, all of which Maddie did for her message.  She shared it with the others when her turn came up, and Camille said she did an excellent job.  All the girls are doing a great job, of course, stepping out of their comfort zones.  Camille is doing a great job raising up this next generation of leaders!

We're at the end of the Mysterious Benedict Society's second adventure, and it has certainly really picked up the latter portion of the book.  We'll pick up book three soon enough - Maddie got the entire set for Christmas, so we're in for the long haul on these books now.  It seems as if we don't just read one book anymore, but rather an entire series.  These are longer books - not as many - but each one takes a good bit of time, and they're fun to read.

We had taekwondo tonight, and that was fun for Maddie of course.  Nana and I had to go grocery shopping while Maddie was getting her kicks.  While out, I picked up a vegetable that none of us have tried before, one called a jicama.  Getting home, we looked up some recipes on how to prepare it, and now I need to head out and find some more items, because we're going to try a jicama soon enough.  It's looks like a cross between a guard and a potato, and it looks like it might be pretty good with some seasoning.  We'll see!  As it's National Tape Measure Day, we should have measured it... but I think we'll just eat it instead.

It was a quiet day today.  I was writing for this weekend, plus doing the book arrangements for our next series.  We have a lot going on, including... Christmas.  Yes, we're meeting about that already.  But it's a quiet time here, and Maddie is getting some rest at home in the weeks leading up to the school year.  We'll get out and do a few things more, of course.  But there will be days like this too.

We said our prayers tonight, and got to sleep earlier.  We're grateful for all God has given us, and that's something that cannot be measured.
