Easter Sunday

It was day filled with activity, with Easter Egg Hunts and two final thrilling performances of"AD33." We started Easter Sunday out early at 6:00, getting ready to come in for church, where Mommy was suiting up over a hundred cast members one final time for their performances. Daddy in the meantime was setting things up for the beginning of the Exodus, which he was thrilled to see working out well.

It was a late night Saturday night, as we were making the final preparations for the new series, and some preparations for Easter as well. Daddy has been making Mommy baskets for years, and this year was no different. The theme was "Ernest," and indeed it was a goofy basket! I had it ready for Mommy this morning when she woke up and walked into the kitchen.

"Know-what-I-mean?"

The church was packed, as most churches are on Easter. The final performances of our production were the better ones, as we fine-tuned things to a point where we were all quite satisfied with the overall presentation. Madison spent a lot of time exploring the church with Daddy early on, but soon found herself with friends in the nursery having a good time. All the little girls looked so cute in their Easter dresses, but our Madison of course was the most beautiful. Of course, I'm somewhat biased. Other people did comment on her appearance - she looked very nice!

As soon as we were able to leave the church after packing up all the props and costumes, we took some Easter lilies with us and made our way home to get all the baskets ready. Every year, we've exchanged Easter baskets with Aunt Shain and Madison's three cousins. Our themes have been a little odd at times, but sometimes brilliant: one year, we had a "Cirque du Sol'egg" basket, and another year we had a Lisa Frank themed basket that we had set up with ultraviolet lights. One year we had this Zen Easter Garden basket, complete with sand in it, submerged eggs and a little rake. My favorite year might be the year we recreated Disney's tea cups ride. This year, as Aunt Shain is a Johnny Depp fan, we had the "Alice in Wonderland" theme going. It wasn't anything weird this year - in fact, the basket's contents might actually be useful!

Soon it was time to head to Ye-Ye's house to exchange baskets - and it was also time for the Easter Egg Hunt! Madison was so wired to go hunt for eggs. Maybe it was from watching that episode of "Max and Ruby" where the characters look for eggs. Or it could be the book we've been reading to her about a puppy dog looking for colored Easter Eggs. Whatever it was, Madison was so incredibly anxious to go outside and try and find as many of those eggs as possible, and in as quick a period of time. She doesn't care what is actually in the eggs: she just wants to collect all the different ones wherever she finds them. Of course, she found them everywhere all over Ye-Ye and Nana's front yard, and in our yard as well. Daddy took over a hundred photos of her scouring the grounds, looking for those elusive eggs. Each time she'd spot one she'd holler out, "egg!" Or, at least it sounded somewhat like "egg." She hasn't got that "g" sound one hundred percent worked out yet! Still, she had a blast running around with her cousins looking for eggs. Some were colored like ladybugs, and others were colored like bees. One in particular had a sound chip inside which shouted out, "I'm over here!"

Everyone was out on the search for more eggs. The boys were out in the back yard, looking for the more difficult eggs. They were on the "black diamond course" of Easter Egg hunts. In fact, they more than likely didn't get all of them. It is a funny tradition, but when placing eggs out in the yard to begin with, we typically find one or two that have been hidden in the yard for over a year. Obviously, you probably don't want to eat anything that comes in those eggs!

Here Madison is finding a larger egg, one that has Dora inside it. In Madison's Easter Basket, we had a Dora the Explorer Easter Egg Hunt DVD, which we watched this evening. Madison is really into Dora all of the sudden. She talks back to the television and everything. Mommy and Daddy were eggs-hausted though. As the DVD was playing, we both were fading fast. Lots of activity over the past week had gotten us pretty tired!

It was a wonderful time with the family though. Madison especially was loving it. Something about finding Easter Eggs made her so eggs-cited. Okay, enough with the "eggs" jokes!

Anyway, she had a very full day, so you can imagine that she too went to bed very easily tonight. Very quickly, she fell asleep. Alice is still in the crib with her, but so is a little Dora as well. All three were off to dreamland pretty quick.

And soon, so will Daddy. It's time to eggs-it stage right!
