FCY Tonight

FCY tonight!  Maddie invited a friend from taekwondo, and it sounds like he had a great time - he'll be back next week, I think.  She's been rather persistent, persevering, and persuasive with inviting others to FCY.  It's a subtle thing perhaps, something that she isn't given enough credit for.  But in the eyes of God it is a great thing of course!

As for service tonight, a guest speaker from the FCY in California was here to speak to the students as they continued their "Better Together" series.  It was a good night, and a rainy one too.  We were driving rather carefully on the way home, as we had such a deluge.  Much has been said about the amount of rain this week, something like four inches in a short time and therefore a possibility of significant flooding here or there.

The weather is turning cold too, which makes is even less fun.  It's supposed to dip colder next week, and we might see some flurries again.  We'll see how that turns out.  But if there's even a dusting, I'm going to make a tiny little snowman or at least a tiny winter scene with LEGO Hoth characters or something.  Make the best you can, right?

We're pretty much done with the writing for our March series, and it's been fun to come up with.  But the deadline is looming for a lot of the work to be done within this book - it's 58 pages long and therefore has quite a bit in there.  Hopefully we can get all that done.  But in the meantime there are also other meetings like the ones we had today for KidPak, which went on a few hours covering a lot of ground.  And then the Easter meeting, where we were doing quite a bit with service flow and ideas for that big production.  Mom is looking around for costuming, and there's a lot of planning to do here.  Easter will be here soon.

However, in the meantime we're excited about the Disney Cruise, which is also soon!  We're about to make reservations for something we haven't done before - a "sting ray" encounter there.  It's a little thing, and we've done that sort of thing plenty of times at aquariums, but never at Castaway Cay.  We thought it might be a fun little extra thing.  We've been doing research for other excursions, and just aren't thrilled with Nassau stuff yet, although we might actually get off the boat and walk around a little area immediately off the boat.  We'll see.  The point of all this is that the research sometimes helps offset the stress of the other things that we're overwhelmed with.

Tonight we read from our story, which is moving along pretty quick.  The elves are bad guys in the Discworld, and things are heading in a direction where the elves might be visiting soon.  Uh-oh!

We said our prayers after reading, and we got to bed on time, the sound of rainfall outside steady and constant as we slept through the night.
