We made the big trip down to Alpharetta tonight, a big day for Maddie because she got some braces today. Now in the old day, that meant the metal sort that sort of made you think of Darla from "Finding Nemo."
But this being a new era with new technology, Maddie is using something called Invisalign.
This mouthpiece goes around your teeth, and in two weeks you get another piece that fits in there, and then two weeks later another - and so on. Each mouthpiece successively begins to reshape your teeth in a gradual sort of way. The mouthpiece stays in twenty-two hours a day, and comes out when it's time to eat or drink or brush your teeth. Maddie and Mom went in while I sat out in their nice waiting area - Maddie will be at this dentist from now on, as it is for the adults. We're all consolidated now at the dentist.
As for the braces, you hardly know they are there, which is one of the attractions of this particular product. It's also a bit quicker of a process. Maddie's got a few friends with braces currently, so that helps her a it because she can commiserate with them about the whole braces thing. She's a little sore to begin with, and that was advertised and expected. But she'll get used to that, or at least her teeth will, and she can do some pain killers until things settle down there. But here we go - Maddie's got some braces. And yes, it's a good bit of money. Yikes!
It's a colder day. Sunny, yes. But still colder. And that temperature is about to drop even more so. We had a good day at work, doing a bit of work with KidPak's service this upcoming weekend - one more "Better Together" service to go this weekend. We were doing the final touches on our "Slam Dunk" series, which should be a lot of fun. Want to see the logo for that?
It's a different one, but I put a lot of flavor into this series. It might be the last of the traditional sorts of series at KidPak though, as this monthly sort of thing is somewhat challenging to keep up with. We're doing a lot of shifting changes at KidPak, an entirely new season for us all.
Tonight we watched "Wreck-it Ralph," part of our old-school Disney movie series. It's not that old-school. The movie was from 2012. But golly, that was thirteen years ago! Where does the time go? The movie tonight was still amazing. I forgot just how great this movie is - this was a time where these movies were so good.
We closed up tonight with some reading, and then of course prayers. It was a good day. Gonna be cold soon though!
