May the Fourth, 2023

Maddie woke up this morning to a surprise on the kitchen table, although she wasn't wearing her glasses and she didn't see this right away, which is kind of funny.  But she did see it, and now she has five new POP figures, the five members of the Bad Batch surrounding a Low Altitude Assault Vehicle that they must have parked there in the night.  The Bad Batch was part of a gift for Star Wars Day, because that's a great day to celebrate, isn't it?

Even better, a new gift for Star Wars Day arrived today, one we didn't think would get here in time but you can see it in the picture:  A Death Star Popcorn Maker.  Yes, that's right, this Death Star is the ultimate weapon, a technological terror that makes popcorn.  We were wanting to steer away from the microwave popcorn and go towards a healthier alternative, which is ironic coming from a Death Star.  Nevertheless, it's a great little device.  And it was fully armed and operational tonight as we loaded it with seeds and put butter in the top.  The top half actually comes off and is used as a bowl.  Perfection!

We sat together to watch the new Star Wars Visions episodes that were released tonight, which of course included one from Aardman Studios.  Yes, we saw that coin-operated Moon Robot from the Wallace and Gromit adventure "A Grand Day Out."  So does that mean Wallace and Gromit are now Star Wars canon?  No, sadly none of these little adventures are officially canon, but they are super cool.  The first one we saw tonight had amazing animation.  We had just enough time to watch four of them before heading upstairs to go to bed.

Tonight Maddie had taekwondo, of course.  We got there early enough, and Maddie was helping out students first, and then training with the leadership class after that.  We stopped on the way home to grab something to eat using our free points at the gas station, and then went home to finish off Maddie's small groups meeting.  Maddie started joining her small group in the car on the way home, and then dashed upstairs once we arrived at the house.  We could hear her laughing up there and having a great time.

Meanwhile, I was getting a few things on sale for Star Wars Day for the Nintendo.  I might get some more here in a bit, some old retro games with the Star Wars theme.  I was also playing some games too, a few Star Wars ones, of course.  Got to get in all the Star Wars you can on this day!

Speaking of which, I was wearing my red lightsaber tie today, a great necktie that looks like a red lightsaber.  Several people were commenting about it - I wore it to shape today, the last chapel for the college kids this year at Free Chapel.  It was a great service honoring those students.  I know so many of them and am super proud of them too!

We closed out the day reading, and we said our prayers too.  It was a good day - May the Fourth be With You.  And also, beware of the Revenge of the Fifth!
