We had another night at Free Chapel Youth, and it was actually part of a pretty hefty day. Maddie was chilling with friends, and it was a part of a series called "Listen to the Youth." It featured guest speakers that were more contemporary to the students, versus us older folks. Anyway, it was a fun night, and Maddie is helping make welcome a new guest, who seems to be enjoying not only FCY but other things she's gotten involved in. Just before FCY tonight, there was this:
Yeah, tonight was a Team Edge performance, one of two this week. The students are performing for the younger ones that have been training, and this place was so packed that I had to park in the back by a dumpster, where other cars were soon lining up too. Lots of people there tonight!
But Maddie and the team did remarkably well as always, and it was great to see. I had a good viewpoint at a seat up against the glass where I recorded a video of the team. Other parents were doing the same, and all the kids did just great throughout.
At the end, there was a thunderous applause from parents and students. They're all pretty fantastic!
It was a fairly productive day at KidPak and for Summer Xtreme and for even this weekend. Also on the back deck, where we captured squirrel #26. He's roaming the wilds behind the church, the untamed wilderness of Flat Creek.
So while Maddie was at FCY, Mom and I were watching the Electric Mayhem, a new Muppet show that premiered just recently, and I love it so far. It's got some of my favorite characters in it, and how great to dive into an adventure with just them in it. Not only does it show their current story, which we've never really focused on them this long before, but it also shows a little history of the characters, which is super cool. Call me a "May-head." That's a super fan of the Electric Mayhem, and that's what I've always been. I remember having an Animal puppet some time ago, and of course I still have Rowlf, although he's not technically a member of the band. Anyway, great show. Really great. The inner Muppet fanatic in me is going bonkers with excitement about it, glad to see something new and really cool from the Muppets. Love it!
So tonight we said our prayers and we read too, getting close to the part about Vogon poetry. Maddie loves that bit from the movie and so far we've been safe from anyone reading any. But tomorrow night, I suspect, we might have to endure some before bed. It could get rough!
