Maddie wrapped up 10th grade today, not with a bang, but with a whimper. This classic line from poetry applies rather well to her sophomore year, as the last day of school this season for many students is in fact a final. Maddie certainly doesn't look forward to school so much, therefore today was nothing so melancholy. In fact, it was a pretty quiet day. Being a Tuesday, we didn't have taekwondo or youth tonight, but we did catch another squirrel, so we decided to make our Redneck trip. That's what we're calling it now: "Hey, you want to go release a squirrel and get some ice cream at the gas station?" We collect points at the Racetrac for getting gas, and we had built up a lot of points so that we could frequently drop by there and get some ice cream in a small cup. A "small" cup is pretty big, actually. Mom likes the butter pecan they have there, which is an unusual flavor for soft serve ice cream. The appeal is the toppings station, which we raid right after getting the soft serve. The squirrels run right out the cage, and right down into the deep woods there, through thickets and brambles straight towards Flat Creek there, which you can see from the top of the hill - it's not too far away. So there's water, covering, and a lot of real estate to explore. That's the best we can do. I had no idea we had this sort of population of squirrels here though. They're relentless on our back deck!
So, here's an amusing story from our past, and Maddie might tell this story better. We did some grocery shopping recently, and Maddie was telling us a story about how she used to think that the employees at Publix were very, very committed to their jobs.
*I just thought the employees didn’t have a life outside their jobs and that’s where they lived. I didn’t realize they actually had homes or a family lol. I was five or six ~Maddie’s pov*
Keep in mind she was very young when she thought this, but she used to believe that Publix employees actually lived up here in these offices you see in the picture above. Along the walls in the front of Publix stores are these windows that are up there on the second floor, and they overlook the shopping area. Maddie spent a good bit of her early life thinking that people lived up there, so everytime we went grocery shopping, she'd look up and see these people's residences.
GORGEOUS APARTMENT FOR RENT
* Very good neighborhood
* 2nd floor apartment
* Large, spacious rooms
* Central air, electricity and cable
* Unobstructed view of interior of Publix Grocery Store
* Great parking lot area
* Compelling Publix Radio Music and Messages, including random paging
* Plenty of places to eat nearby
I'm not sure how it would work, but they should let people spend the night there, kind of like folks can stay at the Disney park overnight in that castle. Only this would be in a grocery store. At night. It would be almost as great, right?
Okay, not really. Anyway, today was a good day. We're reading our book at night still and we said our prayers of course before heading to sleep. We have some fun coming up on our first days of summer break. But today we're celebrating the end of the school year, just glad to be here safe and sound.
