CATS

This afternoon we headed down to Sandy Springs to see a play we hadn't seen in a few years, and it was also somewhat of a birthday present for Mom.  Yes, we saw "CATS" again, and this time it was from the City Springs Theatre Company down there at the Byers theater.  All of this was a first time thing for us, but we got down there with no problem at all, and in fact the worst traffic of all was that mess on Browns Bridge Road right by our house where the road starts to get close to the interstate.  But this place was super easy to find, super easy to park at and I'm wishing we'd been here sooner, because the production was outstanding.  We had these seats dead center at the balcony, and everything was perfect there with plenty of room and a nice new theater.  We enjoyed it very much, of course.

I got Mom and Maddie some headbands with cat ears, so they were wearing those to the production, and there were a few photo op places in the lobby too.  Maddie had her cellphone, so we took advantage of that, of course, and we also got some Swedish fish, because why not?  Cats eat fish, right?

It was a great production, and one of those that you just felt like it was just fine if it kept going on for a bit at the end, rather than actually end.  The costumes were really wonderful and the set design was pretty much as I remember it.  Goodness, we've seen this play a few times - the first time for me was at the Fox Theater back in the 90's, and of course more recently Maddie was with us to see it at the Cumming Playhouse.  Time does fly by.

The songs stick in your head.  I guarantee that every time I see that picture above, I've got the song "Old Deuteronomy" going on inside my head.  You might too.  Maddie's favorite moment was "Memories," of course and that performance was simply outstanding.  I mean, wow.  All the music was so good though, as was the choreography, which just kept going on and on - it was so amazing.

It was a good play, and we decided based on this that season tickets for next year's productions here might be in order.  This won't be the last time we come to this theater.

We were hungry and Mom had a gift card to Cracker Barrel, so we stopped by there on the way home, and I'm pretty certain I ate too much.  But that's because it was so good - we all enjoyed the meal very much.  And afterwards, we headed home.  We had squirrel #29 to deliver, and Officer Monica had some more of her chicken and duck eggs to give us, some she gave me at the church.  We've had her chickens' eggs for quite some time, so the egg shortages elsewhere haven't really affected us as much.

ANYWAY, we also watched the Preakness Stakes tonight, and that's the first time I've ever sat to watch that.  But we timed it right and I turned the streaming network on just in time for the introduction of the horses.  Maddie, Mom and I made our picks...

Mom: National Treasure

Maddie: Coffeewithchris

Dad:  Mage

And yes, one of us won the night!  It was Mom, making a solid selection with National Treasure.  Coffeewithchris made a good start, but none of the horses could keep up with National Treasure, which held the front the entire race, fending off another horse and keeping Mage, the Kentucky Derby winner, in third place at the end.  It was fun to watch, but there's one more thing tonight to see - East Forsyth High Schools' first graduation ceremony.  Maddie had a friend graduating, and she watched her get her diploma online - later on tonight, she went to see her in person at a graduation party that was pretty late.  It's a good friend though, and Maddie wouldn't  miss it.  I'm sitting here in a parking lot typing all this up in fact, waiting to go pick her up.

Tonight we'll read of course, although maybe not as much due to the late hour and the early morning ahead of us.  We'll say our prayers next, and then... it's time for a long cat nap...
