FCY Tonight

Maddie had Youth tonight, and she invited a friend to come as well, which was great.  She had her friend Maddie with her, and of course it's fun to call out, "Maddie!"  Because they both turn to look.  Yeah.  Anyway, they had a great time tonight, and part of that time was playing pool afterwards, something that they were both ... well, not very good at.  The game could have lasted forever if it weren't for Maddie's friend accidentally hitting the eight ball in the side pocket.  Which was actually a pretty amazing accomplishment in itself, given that they were about as good at pool as I am with neurosurgery.  We'll have to do some training for Maddie for pool, maybe get a pool hustle going with her.  No one would expect that, right?

*We are better at gamepigeon pool, I have done good in actual pool! I am no completely horrible at pool, trust me! It just wasn't my day for it lol. It was a fraud! ~Maddie*

This cold has really set in, but it feels great outside, like a fall day or a mid-March, sort of.  Everyone is bundling up at night, although Maddie wasn't up too early this morning - she gets to sleep in this week because it's a virtual week.  But Mom and I are up and doing our routine of getting the bird seed out and yes, catching squirrels.  We had captured numbers seventeen and eighteen today, each transported to a new squirrel sanctuary at the church where I am in fact noticing a slight influx of squirrels.

Our canopy is up and despite the wind, it's staying put rather nicely.  It's firmly in place, providing cover for us now when we go out and just sit to enjoy the afternoon.  But it's a little too chilly for the evening right now.

Our sea monkeys are doing really well.  Each morning we're aerating the tank and watching a whole lot of them swimming about the Martian landscape, hopefully content in their new home.  At least they don't have to worry about getting eaten by a whale shark.  But seriously, they're doing well.  We're pretty happy to see them scurry about.

Tonight we read from our Kingdom Keepers book a little more, and it's quite a different feel to the past books, part of the series taking place in a dystopian park in Northern Africa, probably Morocco, I guess.  We're still figuring things out, and we're a good ways into the book.  But it's harmless fun, and great to see that our favorite characters from the past have done well, at least until the point where Finn and Amanda's son got kidnapped.  But he seems to be like his dad, smart and ready for adventure, and it's been fun to read about his interaction with animals, along with the other characters too.  We sort of miss the whole hologram thing from before, but this is a new series.  The mystery of it all is pulling us along as we try to figure out what's going on.

It's been a good day today.  We said our prayers, and we got to sleep after watching an episode of "Ultimate Spider-man."  We've been seeing a lot more of Venom, and that's not a terrible thing.  We said our prayers tonight after reading, and soon enough, we were all fast asleep.  Super tired lately!
