Maddie was excited to see the first installment of a new series, "What If?" It's basically a deviation of the standard Marvel story line, pretending certain things happened, or didn't happen, and following that story to see what would happen - what if? I actually have a few of these "What If?" comics in my collection, including an imagining of "What if Conan the Barbarian and Wolverine teamed up?" Tonight's episode featured a favorite character of Maddie's, Agent Carter, who took the super serum instead of Steve Rogers. It was a lot of fun - everyone enjoyed it, just based on the strength of the characters, and a few surprises along the way. We're looking forward to more surprises each Wednesday night with this series.
Maddie had her small group again tonight. Despite the "plague house," her life is moving along as best as possible. She was up in her room for the small group, which has topics lately that echo the youth group's topics on Sunday at FCY. Nothing wrong with that - the girls are enjoying both FCY and small group online now.
Trying to keep busy without doing too much, we took down the patriotic tree today, carefully packing away the White House ornaments and other patriotic ornaments, at least until around Christmas time. We moved some furniture about, and I started a book on George Washington. Maddie is still reading her book, "The Mysterious Benedict Society," and telling us of the differences in the written material and the television show that we watched. She's already asked for some of these books for Christmas.
We're still reading about the Kingdom Keepers at night. Maleficent was on the big Funnelvision screen there, and that made everyone uncomfortable, as there are some worries that there could be real danger. We'll find out soon enough! This is one of the larger books, but we're plugging along, and Maddie is enjoying the tale. We might actually be finished with this book series by the time the next one comes out - we'll see how that times out.
Anyway, we said our prayers tonight, and despite it all, we're still quarantined and miserable here - at least Mom and I are. I'm not sure how long this will last. It's like a bad "What if?" story...!
