Return of the Time Travelers

Madison and I were at church this morning, while Nana and Mommy were home again.  Mommy was watching on the computer for that first service, and if you look in the front row, you can see Madison there with her mask on, wearing black, sitting next to Bailey up there in that grey shirt.

KidPak went back to our old format again, the one we did last on March 8, 2020.  We have the chairs there a bit socially distant from each other, and they go back to the sound booth, filling up the auditorium that way.  We had a good number of kids this morning for both services, and it was thrilling to see.  The worship was more intense with a larger, combined audience, and everything else was more potent too.  It was just a great atmosphere.

Here's Dawn, one of our time travelers that we went back to rescue.  She and the other cowboys have gone to the future, and she was the one trapped in the future in need of rescue. Her destination:  March of 2020. You can see the Apocalyptic Dawn outfit she's got on, complete with a utility belt that has toilet paper, a mask, and hand sanitizer too.  She's got the steampunk thing going on too - we had fun assembling this costume!

The skit was fun.  I was trying to think of all the times we could go to with time travelers.  Last time we did this series, we had people from all different time eras coming forth to this time to help our two main characters with their homework.  Sort of like Bill and Ted.  In this instance, all our cast of cowboys from our Trailblazers series found an orb - thanks for the inspiration, "Adventures of Brisco County Jr."  Of all the times to travel to, these guys went to seven months ago.  I think that March of 2020 will be a time travel subject years from now, one of those iconic periods of time that's up there with the summer of 1969 or something like that.  Of course, for not entirely the best reasons.  People will exaggerate the toilet paper thing, the hand sanitizer thing, Zoom meetings, and in a few weeks, we'll also remember the murder hornets and other things people were afraid of.

Of course, that's the point of this skit.  We're in October of 2020 now, and look where we are compared to then.  We're in better shape in many ways.  And that's just it.  God is with us at every point along our timelines, and even though we go through some rough patches, it all turns out okay.  We had to convince Apocalyptic Dawn of this.

And of course we did.  But then we realized that another character Nerdo had zapped himself here, and so we couldn't return to our own timeline until we found him.  So that's the cliffhanger.  It's fun though.  We had a great morning, and Pastor Lance's message was fantastic.  We realized that Moses was a time traveler, going back to see Genesis and going forward to see Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration.  I mean, we're not entirely sure what happened or when - it could have taken place on Mt. Sinai when God was showing Moses "His glory."  Whatever or whenever, the point is that Moses saw the pandemic of sin come into the world, and he saw the cure:  Jesus.

The rest of the day was not as eventful, and a bit more restful.  Madison worked on the piano a little, as you can see above.  We watched the KidPak Adventures Time Travelers series online, which is now officially a different service than what we do in person.  The past month, kids were watching this online service in the classroom, in addition to a brief half-hour of worship and a skit and a few words from Pastor Lance.  But now our KidPak services are as they were, and we're keeping that online presence going.  There are still kids not in the church physically yet, and on top of that there are kids that watch KidPak from places as far away as Nicaragua and Zambia.  We're keeping that going for all of them.

One of our races in that were some hover board races, and these things go so fast.  We set up an obstacle course for two racers, but in our spare time, KidPak employees have been zipping down the hallways in these hover boards.  They are so much fun!

Tonight, Dawn's husband came over to look at our sink to determine the link.  We did a lot of excavation, and eventually found the leak, not quite where we anticipated.  The end result is an appointment with a plumber coming up, but the good news is that we found the source of some of the insects that are in our house.  I'm putting all that as gently as I can.  Indiana Jones would be impressed with what we've seen.  We'll have things fixed up with that sink, but for the time being, we're still washing dishes in the laundry room, washing them by hand.  You don't realize how immensely helpful a dishwasher is until you don't have one!

We watched "Hotel Transylvania 2" tonight, and there's something we've done each night in October, pretty much.  We've seen a different seasonal movie each night, keeping that trend going.  This is a fun movie, and now I want to watch part three tomorrow night.  I like that one.

Before bedtime, we read some more, both from the devotional and another chapter of "Choices of One."  We prayed too, and were in bed rather quickly once more.  We've had a great weekend, and have much to be thankful for.  Nana had a few episodes today, but we had some pleasant memories too.
