Fall Day on the Square

We had a few bright spots today, and a few not-so-bright ones, but we try our best to focus on the good ones here.    What you see above is a picture of Nana and her two children George and Mommy at the square in Dahlonega.  We drove up there, and found the place swarming with tourists and people, which was great to see.  We had remarkable parking favor, pulling right up to a spot on the square, and right then we walked into a store to look around, and then went to the candy store for some goodies, and then just enjoyed the atmosphere of the square.  Madison took several pictures along the way, inside and outside the shops.

Earlier in the day, we visited with Madison's other grandmother for a tour of her garden, and nice little walk around.  We were able to do all of this before the approaching storms.  These storms were well advertised, so they hung in the air over us like... well, storms.  We knew they were coming, so we were out and about, making the best of our day before things got a little wet.  And things did indeed get a little wet! It poured today, a front of storms just assaulting the whole area, warm and humid weather giving way to almost tropical downpours.  It was nice for Nana, sitting out on the front porch.

But she was having a super difficult time today.  We have remarkable lows that go with these other moments where we attempt to distract or entertain.  It's a lot of work, and we're pretty exhausted.

Speaking of a lot of work, Mommy did a lot of cooking today.  She was making the chili for tomorrow's party, but she was also making a big dinner for tonight, one that all of us were able to sit an enjoy.  I have no idea how, but I managed to talk Nana into eating with us tonight, and that was nice.  Nana had a small portion of fish, while the rest of us had Mom's gluten-free pork chops, potatoes, and a wonderful salad.  It was a great meal!

While it was raining, Madison and I were playing "Luigi's Mansion 3" for a while, getting a pretty good ways along that game, catching ghosts and exploring the mansion.  It was relaxing, or at least somewhat relaxing.

Tonight's movies were plentiful, as Nana was ready to sit down on the couch and watch something with the family.  We saw "Tower of Terror," and a few shorts, "Scared Shrekless" and "The Wrong Trousers."  But we were all quite tired by then, and it wasn't after that we were all in bed.

We're making the best we can of each day, and though some are battles, we're making good memories here and there, and that's important.  We're doing the best we can, and though we're exhausted, we know things will work out.
