Madison added some color to her hair today, having a great time with the grandparents for pretty much the entire day. The reason Ye-Ye and Nana picked her up was to take her - and her cellphone - to get an updated card. But things got bad at home, so when speaking to my parents, I told them to keep her for the day. They were planning that anyway, as things have been severely hit-and-miss with the emotions and weirdness at our house. They had a great day together, shopping, talking, and just hanging out. It actually worked out perfectly that she could spend time with the grandparents, and on such a great day too. We had plans to drive up and see the leaves in the mountains, but Nana Green wasn't in any kind of mood to do anything at all but fight.
Mom's mother was on another tirade today, and there was no logic involved, or at least not much. As mentioned previously, she just wants to get out of the house. That is either England or somewhere north of here where friends are in Georgia. Or death. That's a frequent hope, and I do get that she's still mourning severely the loss of her husband. We're doing our best to give her a reason to live, but she's been quite combative today, so much so that Zena's health has been deteriorating.
Nana has a friend named Judy that she was speaking to frequently, and again, Judy doesn't know about the dementia so much, and isn't actually helping as much as we hoped. In fact, she keeps encouraging her to come down there and live with her. Which would be great for about a few days, of course. But ultimately, Nana's health and what happens to others will rest on our shoulders, whether Nana likes it or not.
So we're biding our time until Uncle George gets here. Ultimately, it would be great to get Nana some medical care, but at the moment we're still struggling so much with her, right there in the thick of the battle and hoping to keep her out of danger. It's crazy.
Here's the dress that Madison got today while shopping. We were spending some time with Ye-Ye and Nana at their house. They've been so good to give a place of refuge for Madison and Mommy. We'll get through this, but it's been super stressful. We prayed tonight, and we read a bit, though not much.
