Let it Snow

What a wonderful day today!  We had plans to sleep in a little more, but Mommy drew back the curtains to the window in the bedroom, and we looked outside... it was snowing!  Daddy did the same thing in Madison's bedroom, opening the shades - and just like that, Madison was up and about:  "It's snowing!"

It didn't take us too long to get out into the wonderful world around us.  Thick flakes of snow were drifting down all around, and the view was just magical.

Mommy was a little under the weather, but our great big windows up high gave her a special view of the beautiful morning we had.

We walked all around the back yard, now cleared up so we could go down to the stream area below, and it was a special morning.  The snow was falling all the way until mid-afternoon, and it was piling up in such a way that you could pack it together for magnificent snowmen.  Our entire neighborhood was lined with them, all the kids laughing and sledding and of course throwing snowballs at one another.

Madison couldn't resist the urge to pummel Daddy with snowballs throughout the day.  We were out in the white stuff for hours and hours.  This picture above was early in the afternoon, but soon enough there wasn't a spot on the ground that wasn't covered.  That is, unless Madison went and did something like this:

You have to make snow angels, right?  She couldn't help it.  This is one of those things you don't really even think about when it's snowing.  You just drop down and start making snow angels, and there you are.

It was such a magnificent thing, watching the snow fall down.  The skies were overcast and white, the heavy flakes still cascading down, gently covering the earth and adding such a beauty to the world around us.  Here's a shot of our house earlier in the morning, before we started really getting out there and playing.

The weather wasn't ideal for sledding just yet, but it was perfect for packing.  Throughout the day we made a few different snow creations, rolling up snow and building things up higher.

Stone River Drive was covered, and no one was going anywhere this morning.  There were reports of many who tried, and there were quite a few reports of accidents and road closures.  No need in risking all that.  Besides, we hadn't really had anything planned.

At one point, Edge ATA offered a contest online.  We heard about this before we went out into the snow:

Edge Fam! Post a picture of you or your kids training in the snow and tag Edge ATA Martial Arts! You’ll be entered into a drawing for a Free Edge Hoodie AND Belt Testing!

So that was one of our missions out there in the snow.  Here was our entry, which we posted pretty quickly:

That poor snowman knows just what's coming!  He sat there patiently waiting for the inevitable, a worried face on his head.  Madison for some reason was super excited to actually do a high kick to the head!

We posed for a few shots, and did a couple of good ones... and then it was time for Madison to get her kicks!

She loved this so much that she actually rebuilt the snowman's head... and then kicked it in again!  But here's another snowman we made, one that was a big hit when we shared a photo of it online.

It's a Baby Yoda!  Of course, we don't actually know his name yet.  But everyone calls him Baby Yoda.  He's a cute little guy!

Here's Madison and Baby Yoda in the front yard - we were pretty proud of this one.  He lasted until Monday afternoon, and was a big hit while he was with us.  But we weren't done building yet!  No, Madison was working on this column that she could kick down.  And she created this perfect circle around that column, and suddenly it was starting to look familiar.  Now here's an odd creation:

It's a snow sculpture of Isengard!  I'm not exactly sure why there's a snow sculpture of Isengard in our driveway, but nonetheless, there it is.  Here's a picture of the legendary Isengard, for all of you not familiar with it from Lord of the Rings:

Yes, and there's a tiny snow Saruman in there somewhere.  Fortunately, the evil army that lives there didn't stand a chance against another well-placed high kick.

It was a very nice day, just a perfectly sweet sort of day, really.  Here below is something that made it even sweeter:

We made some snow cream!  We looked it up online, and right afterwards, Daddy and Madison set out to make some chocolate snow cream!

It was insanely delicious.  It was so good, it was hard to not eat it all!  We made a big batch, and it was so perfect!  We enjoyed this one, making it, and then getting to try it out.  Madison had two bowls.  Okay, so did Daddy.  It was great!

The day was so nice today, an answer to a prayer, really.  Daddy was literally praying for just one day of snow this year, one day for us to go out and play.  We didn't need for it to be on a work-day or anything like that - just a day to enjoy building a snowman, throwing snowballs, making snow angels, and even making snow cream.  And we got to do all that today, and we were out there for hours and hours.

After a bath, and after piano too, Madison joined us on the couch, and we watched, "Cloud 9," a Disney Channel movie with even more snow on it.  Afterwards, we were watching a few snowboarder runs from the Olympics in South Korea.  The snow is melting somewhat tonight, but it is going to freeze again overnight, and thus, our first service tomorrow morning is cancelled to keep everyone safe.  So we'll get to sleep in a bit!

We read from "Thrawn" tonight, and we prayed for Mommy so she could get better sooner.  This sickness on her has been with her for days now, and it's time for it to go.  We also thanked God for the snow - it was a wonderful day!  We tucked Madison in, and then Daddy tucked Mommy in too.  Time to stay warm under the covers for a good night's rest.
