Rainy Day People

This morning Daddy was up at a school in Clermont to visit with the kids, although the journey there was somewhat treacherous.  I say that  because there was a significant accident on Dawsonville Highway, one that happened just as I was dropping Madison off at school.  The end result of any major road being closed on a peninsula is that one has to drive quite a bit around to find an alternate path.  What a crazy morning.  The rain was falling down in torrents, and there were plenty of places where standing water threatened cars, and puddles of water alongside the road became as large as small lakes.

But it was a pleasant occasion at the school, and in fact dry.  That's a plus.  After that we had a full day of work.  Daddy had a few meetings and then went to another school after that.  Later on, it was taekwondo with Madison.  She's doing well, and is lined up to get her next belt on March 3rd.  This will be a brown belt, and as mentioned earlier, the testing part is free because of that entry in the snow contest.  In fact, the other freebie was something Madison wore today, an Edge hoodie, which was quite comfortable on her with the weather getting chillier tonight.

This was the last day of school before a five-day break here.  There were a flurry of good grades that showed up online, and it looks as if Madison is doing just fine to start out this second semester.  Because there is no school tomorrow, we watched a Disney Channel movie tonight, "Minute Men," which featured time travelers and a few "Back to the Future" references.  It was a fun movie, one we all enjoyed.  I have a feeling we'll be digging into a lot of these old school Disney Channel movies now that we have Disney Plus.  It's been a great source of fun conversations for us all at work, reminiscing and recommending various shows and movies of the past.

We read from "Thrawn" afterwards, and the devotional too.  And there were prayers as well.  We were up a little later tonight, but that's because we have no worries about getting up too early tomorrow.  It was a rainy day, very much so.  The flood warnings are for all over, and the lake is well past full pool.  We don't remember what the open sky looks like so much, although there's talk of clear skies for Valentine's Day.  It has rained so much, and yet not long ago we were all wondering when it would actually rain again.  It all goes in cycles, and you can just relax when you see something out of the ordinary.  Don't worry:  it will rain again.  Or, in this case, we're not worried, because eventually the rain will stop again.

Now get this:  next week, there's talk of more precipitation, but it could be the frozen kind.  We'll see soon enough!
