We were on board the Polar Express tonight, snuggling on the couch together for another nice Christmas movie. Daddy was not at church tonight because he's been struggling with a fever lately. Still, he and Mommy went out today to get a lot of props and costumes for this play upcoming. We're working on some still, also for Gwinnett. Lots going on there with this, of course. But Daddy had to rest today, and it was nice to sit together in the quiet and go by train to the North Pole. This is Daddy's favorite Christmas movie, and I can't explain why or defend this decision, but it's just a feeling the movie gives. Plus, Daddy likes trains. Madison picked the movie for us, and we sat down to watch it before heading to bed tonight, an early night for many reasons.
She got an A on her final midterm today, and yes, that's a sweep. I owe her big time. I told her I'd get her something big if she got all A's this week, and oh boy did she ever. With the play practices and other Christmas activities, there was concern about these midterms, which of course have a huge impact on her grade. And she was concerned too, spending a good bit of time studying and arriving early to school for study sessions and so on. In the end, it all paid off for her, as she finished the semester strong with all A's.
We were out getting props today while Madison was test-taking. We also mailed a few Christmas cards - we'll mail some more tomorrow. We got some elderberry for Daddy to try, maybe he'll feel better after that one. People swear by it. I'm not taking any chances though, taking other things too, including Dr. Mom's prescriptions as well.
Tonight we watched something sad. RIP. They all ganged up on him, and left us stunned at how they could act like this, and we're still in mourning. We're angry, and we want revenge! Before you think we're talking about the impeachment, no we're not: we're talking about Kuill. That ugnaught was a beloved character to us, and tonight's episode cut deep. After the last five minutes of this episode, the three of us can't wait to see the next episode, because we can't wait to see the Mandalorian and IG-11 cut the Empire to shreds.
But speaking of "The Empire," there was that impeachment thing today. It was supposed to be historic, but again, because it was completely partisan, it really lacked any drama - or evidence. It just sort of fell flat. Partisans on both sides are fired up, I suppose. But those in the middle are annoyed. This has been going on and on and on. I'm sure they're doing other things in the legislative branch of government, but this seems to be the only thing they've accomplished. And everyone with a brain knows that the next step is the Senate, and that's where things get shot down because the majority is the other party. So you did all this for... what? If it is to put a stain on the executive branch, you may have accomplished that - but that stain was a whole lot bigger than intended, because there's a huge ugly stain on the legislative branch tonight. With the previous investigation that went nowhere and now this, they've spent millions of dollars to basically make a statement. And of course all that money comes from us. I'm helping pay for this. Of course, I'd rather help pay for someone to get done Browns Bridge a little faster, or at Christmas time help pay for some housing for people that need it, or even food for those that are hungry. But instead, we're paying these people to make a statement that they believe the President did something wrong, despite the fact that there is no direct evidence, but rather hearsay and so on.
It's annoying. I wish government thought about other people, and about serving, then about struggling for power.
We said our prayers tonight, praying for our leaders and praying for our health too. Daddy read through "Prince Caspian" and we met the noble Reepicheep for the first time. We read the devotional, and not long after that, we were off to sleep for a long winter's nap.
