We were watching a few episodes of the LEGO Star Wars: Freemaker Adventures tonight, and these are pretty good! We got the second season as a Christmas gift, and they've been fun to watch. There are lots of fun Easter eggs and sometimes obscure characters, and then there's the Emperor, who is somewhat like the Emperor in the Robot Chicken episodes, a pretty funny character. He's hilariously snarky, but there's more to the show than that of course. Madison has been making sure we see these one episode at a time now, so we'll be on these the next two weeks or so, until the season is done.
Today we stayed inside because it rained. This is nothing new. They're dealing with such high flood waters elsewhere, and the swamps near us are more like murky lakes at the moment, the water levels up absurdly high. We're talking a forty-year high right now, and the rain just keeps coming.
But it's a good day to say inside. We're all looking at the clock and telling ourselves it is an hour earlier than it really is, because that's the spring ritual for Daylight Saving Time. But we still did a few things, some related to preparing for the service tomorrow, and others related to piano. Oh, and the matter of food: Mommy made that delicious butternut squash soup we all love so much. And Irish tea - we've been drinking that a lot lately, which is perfect for these gloomy days. A good cup o' tea warms the soul. You can quote me on that one.
The Irish season goes on, as we move along in March, we've been listening to all sorts of seasonal music, including these new records that Daddy got for Christmas. I got "The Chieftains 1" and the second one as well. You can see the cover of the first album above.
It's a fun season, although the pollen is starting to affect some of us already. This despite the rain. The blasted Bradford pears in the front yard are already stinking up the neighborhood, so we're thankful that this rain is washing some of that away. Still, it persists a little, and we're all sniffling a little lately, not just us at home, but all over there are waves of people with red eyes, sniffles and scratchy throats.
But this too shall pass, and there is a lot to be happy about around here. We had our Lucky Charms this morning, and made ourselves a leprechaun trap using the box that cereal came from. It advertises for free unicorn rides, but it's a trap. Silly leprechauns - everyone knows you can't ride a leprechaun for free!
Since Madison has been doing the studies of Australia, we watched an Aussie movie tonight, "The Rescuers Down Under." I forgot how much I liked this movie, and how much of a big deal it was for computer animation. Seriously, watch it and imagine a world before computer animation, seeing all the new and amazing technology that Disney was attempting here. On the big screen, it was something else to see. This movie gets little recognition, falling in between "The Little Mermaid" and "Beauty and the Beast. " But it is very much a gem. We enjoyed it, heading to the Outback here once again. Madison aced her test on Australia, by the way. She's almost a native now!
Okay, time to get to bed early tonight. It's an hour earlier than you think!
