King Laufey's Christmas Jam

Madison wanted to see "Wonder" more than "Coco" or "Olaf's Frozen Aventure," or "Justice League," or anything else in theaters - even "Thor," which we just saw last weekend.  So with that in mind, we went out to the movies, our only big thing of the day, really.  And that's when we saw "Wonder."

She read the book last year at school, and although the cynical side may suggest its part of some clever marketing scheme, the truth is that the movie is a good message movie.  It's an emotional one, for sure, probably more so for parents than the kids themselves.  Madison absolutely loved it, even more than "Thor" or probably the others that we could have gone to see.

Today we were cleaning up from Thanksgiving, so the three tubs are downstairs now, all packed away again until maybe next year.  It's Black Friday, and there was nothing really we wanted to go out and buy.  The usual stories of fights and stress are just a reminder of why we don't really like to go out on Black Friday.  More and more people may be feeling that way - we ourselves have been ordering things online lately, as this area seems to be increasing in population to the point that you have to factor in a lot of extra driving time to go to places like Gwinnett County.  The traffic is usually bad, but around this time of year, it's horrendous.

So we stayed at home and created a little Black Friday Christmas scene of our own.  For some reason, we got off course on our mission objectives with the LEGO Avengers, and thought it would be fun to put everyone in Christmas hats, and create traffic nightmares throughout New York.  Madison was playing as Captain America (driving the car), and Daddy was playing as King Laufey the Frost Giant.  Earlier, Daddy was using King Laufey the Frost Giant in a Christmas hat, wreaking havoc in a city bus.  Hey, that's the sort of thing that would make a fun bedtime story!

Tonight, Madison made her advent chain, the twenty-five day chain that counts down the days to Christmas.  We start that chain on Friday, just one week from today.  It is going by fast, whether you want it to or not!  Tonight, we had our leftovers, and read from Nancy Drew's latest adventure and a bit more from our Tribes Devotional.  It was a very nice day, really.
