"It's a Yule Tide!"

Tonight we watched the Christmas themed episode of "The Tick," which is really funny still.  A crook who robbed a bank is able to steal a Santa suit as a disguise, fooling the Tick just long enough to get away.  But there's an accident as always, and a huge electrical shock causes this bad Santa to multiply.  Worse still, the bad Santa figures it out, and sets up to give himself as many electrical shocks as possible, creating an army of evil Santas.  Pouring out of the hydroelectric dam, the Tick sees wave after wave of bad Santas cascading towards the city and cries out, "It's a Yule Tide!"

This is one of the funnier episodes of "The Tick," a show we already love.  Madison hasn't finished season two yet, but tonight we squeezed in a few more episodes, especially this one because it is Christmas themed.

She was busy with ballet tonight, dancing the night away for two and a half hours.  It's a long session, isn't it?  Mommy picked up Daddy from work while she was dancing, and the two of us were eating at a pizza place nearby - date night!

Madison said she did well on her math test today, and we believe her.  She definitely has a knack for it.  Her science class today discussed vertebrates and invertebrates, so on the way home we had fun quizzing her with an endless list of random animals, seeing if she knew which was an invertebrate, and which was a vertebrate.  We almost got her with starfish, but she rallied and got that one right.  We got stuck in a bit of traffic on the way home, not quite sure what happened on Browns Bridge, but that happens every so often.  The road closes down and we all either turn around or wait it out.  Browns Bridge Road is basically two connected peninsulas, so the options are pretty limited.

Anyway, we did our reading tonight, learning a bit more about this mysterious Black Snake Cult.  At least Nancy Drew did.  There are a whole bunch of guys in white sheets and masks, and they're up to no good.  Hopefully Nancy and her friends can get to the bottom of this soon!

It was a grey day, but it was a good one for Daddy, who finished the "Humbug!" devotional.  It just needs to be proofed, and the sermons lined up, and then our December series booklets will be ready to go.  We read through a bit of the scripts for the services too - these are going to be epic.  We also were helping out with the costumes for the upcoming main service Christmas production!

Which you can see here...!  Also today, Madison is spending some more time drawing.  We're finding her artwork everywhere.  Her latest design is this cute dog she's been drawing time and again.  It's just been the last two days, but she colors it in and everything.  I'm not sure if it is from anything, but it looks good.

Also, we got her next book, something she needs to read for school.  It's a book called "Number the Stars," and it looks to be pretty heavy as far as a theme goes.  It's historical fiction, but the events that take place around this book are far from fiction, although many wish they were.  We'll have details on that later, but it will be a somber bit of reading for Madison.  We'll see how she handles it.

Anyway, it's time for bed for all of us.  Mommy and Daddy have taken to going upstairs and watching a Christmas special or something on the laptop in bed.  It's a nice way to end the day lately, and we've been getting enough rest, with sugar plums dancing in our heads, right?
