So today we ended the summer break the way we pretty much began it: with lots of rain. We're talking about flash flooding warnings and heavy downpours for extended amounts of time. Again.
With all this, Madison did make her way with Mommy to church, to visit with Daddy for a time. We were busy creating a PLAN B for the night, as the forecast was showing us likely to have even more rain coming in. And yet, amazingly, the front dissipated at the county line. It was sweeping in from Northwest Georgia, big and heavy, and stretching across several counties. And it just stopped for an hour along the Forsyth and Dawson county lines, and then was gone.
We had our big Back to School Bash after all! We had all sorts of inflatables set up outside, and dizzying rides too. And the kids had a great time! The people who brought the inflatables were able to have the event, and best of all, we didn't have to go with the PLAN B we'd spent the entire day working on.
We went to bed early tonight, mainly because we'll be getting up pretty early tomorrow. At least, early for us. We're setting the alarm for 6:00 am. The first day of 1st grade is tomorrow, and usually there's a pretty big back-up at the school until everyone finds a good routine. Daddy will be ready for that adventure in the morning, and hopefully Madison will be ready for another great year at school. She seems to be pretty excited about school already, which is a good sign.
Today she was at the office for a bit - she couldn't have gone outside anyway because of all the early rain. She was using some Barbie coloring sheets that Daddy printed out. We usually have this routine where Daddy uses a search engine to find some sort of themed coloring sheet. You'd be amazed at all the varieties of coloring sheets there are out there - something for every child!
We ate at Chick-Fil-A, but this turned out to be a mistake for Mommy, as some of the fried chicken had cross contaminated the grilled chicken salad she got. Basically, if there is any cross contamination at all, she'll have a really bad reaction. This one was the worst in a month, but it taught us a pretty valuable lesson about how serious Mommy's gluten allergy really is. We have to be more careful in the future, and will be.
Tonight the Atlanta Braves won again. That's thirteen games in a row, which is pretty awesome. We'll be going to a game hopefully soon - our friend Lance is supposedly setting us up for some really great seats. I'm not entirely sure the connection he has, but it's a great one. We're going to try to get to a Saturday game with he and his wife soon. Daddy just can't wait to have Madison along for the fun - she'll get into it, I'm sure.
School is first though, and that's tomorrow. So goodnight to everyone, as we turn in early. It's time to get some shut-eye as we prepare for a big day of firsts tomorrow!
