Madison went to her first grade room this morning at church - it was the day of promotion for all the church kids. It was a big day for all of the kids, as we always use this day to pray for each child individually in the main sanctuary. Madison and all the other children her age walked in a single file line upstairs, where the pastors rested their hands on her forehead, praying a prayer of protection and guidance in the upcoming year. The service is obviously quite a bit different from our standard service at KidPak, but it's an important one.
After church today, we went home and Daddy was pretty wiped out. It's probably related to the long drive and the big week. Or maybe the tremendous amount of sun he's been getting lately. No matter what, we decided to rest a bit (although Daddy did spend quite a bit of time still working to finish a booklet in time for the deadline).
Mommy had an amazing lunch prepared for us, a big salad and fruit and more. Daddy could have kept eating that on and on and on. Afterwards, inspired by our recent mini-golf game, we plugged in the Blu-ray version of "Fantasia" so Madison could see the hippos and crocodiles, and of course Mickey the Sorcerer. We skipped the parts that - in Madison's own words - wouldn't "freak her out."
Madison went to her first grade room this morning at church - more in a bit on today. We finished up the booklet, played some video games (Brave, Squaddies), ate an incredible lunch, and inspired by the recent mini-golf game, we watched "Fantasia." Or, at least the parts - in Madison's words - won't "freak me out." Yes, so far it appears as if Chernabog has an early lead on Madison's creepiest villain list. Just his appearance on the cave walls in a mini-golf course was enough to inspire a good "freaking out!"
We played "Brave" today on the X-box, which was a nice return to an old game. Madison has been thinking about Merida lately, especially with Halloween coming up. Yes, that's the big announcement: you heard it here first. She's going to be Merida for Halloween. She got that great costume at Christmas, so when October rolls around we won't be searching for a costume for Madison. She already has a bow, a wig, the dress, and even the shoes. She'll be ready to go, just so long as Daddy decides not to dress as Chernabog. That might freak her out.
