Museum Prep

The next two days are going to be a bit busy with the museum prep, that is to say the construction of a museum on our stage at KidPak.  To that extent, Mommy and Madison were on hand to help out with costumes and the display case (which will be complete tomorrow, probably).  Actually, the entire thing will be done hopefully by tomorrow night, as the new series starts on Sunday.  Again, it's based on "Night at the Museum," which we've been really getting into lately.  Here's the set, almost done:

It's got a ways to go before getting complete.  Maybe I'll be able to take a snap or two on Sunday when all is said and done.  That is, if we're not all completely exhausted by then!

Madison had another good day at school today, getting there early again, and even having an opportunity to run across her teachers from last year in the hallway.  She waved hello!  Another highlight of the day:  recess and more goose poo.  Only this time, the geese were not around to inflict more harm to the playground area.

She got some homework, much of it related to telling the classroom about herself.  We'll probably tackle this on Sunday afternoon, after a long nap.  Or after going to see a movie - Daddy is itching to take the family out to see "Planes," the latest Disney flick.  It has the feel of a "direct-to-DVD" release, but the point is more about all of us going out to see a movie again.  Plus, we've got one free ticket, the result of carrying a movie rewards card with this theater we've been going to this summer.  It's got a lot of benefits, including lots of cheaper popcorn!

Speaking of movies, we've been reading a story about the upcoming digital projector deal with theaters, which is great except that drive-ins are now forced to purchase digital projectors too.  The cost of these projectors for the drive-ins is - get this - $80,000!  This will crush the drive-ins that still remain, something already struggling to survive.  The truth is this though:  if there were one closer, we'd be going all the time.  Drive-ins are fun to go to, a completely different atmosphere.  Certain movies, like the one we're seeing tomorrow for example, are just fine to see at a drive-in.  Hopefully the Tiger Drive-In will survive - we'd love to go up there again, and would if the drive weren't so epic.  It's over an hour to get there, and the movies can only start around 9:00 pm, which is pretty late for Madison (and us, come to think of it).  By the time the movie ends, we've got this long drive back, and we were pretty wiped out the last time we tried it.  That was for "Toy Story 3," when we went with Madison.  It was a lot of fun, actually.  Again, we'd do it more often if it were closer.

Daddy got his completed book today, the eight messages for the upcoming series.  It's such a satisfying feeling to get a printed copy of the book you've been working on for weeks (or longer).  Flipping through the pages, and smelling the fresh prints, it's a great feeling to see all that hard work in a nice presentation.  Here's our completed artwork for the series:

Daddy is about to order the video game "Night at the Museum 2" for the X-box.  This will be something for he and Madison to tinker around with this series, plus it's pretty cheap now that the game itself is a couple years old.  Like I said earlier, we really dive into a theme sometimes - so much so that we'll actually be heading over to the Tellus Science Museum around Labor Day.  I can't put my finger on it, but there's something really cool about walking into a building that has a big dinosaur skeleton in it, especially one of a T-Rex.

Madison was at the office today, as stated earlier.  She spent some time playing with just about everyone here at the office, and was happy to see her friend Matthew.  She played with her Leapster Explorer a bit, and also did a bunch of coloring sheets that Daddy found online for her.  This is while Mommy was working on costuming and Daddy was working on the script for part one of our series.  We'll be editing a lot of movies for the new series too.  Tonight we'll get to sleep a bit earlier, but we'll see how Saturday night goes - it'll probably be a late one...
