It Happened on 5th Avenue

We went over the library and got this Christmas-themed jigsaw puzzle that the family has been working on sporadically.  You can see Madison on it now - she's been doing this the most lately.  We'll plug in the Christmas music and off we go.

I've been scanning negatives of old pictures lately, including these here, some pictures from Thanksgiving fifteen years ago.  That's our set, and there's Gordo there in the middle, Black Bart to the left, Cookie to the right, and I have no idea who that little girl is!  But we had about eleven Indians emerge from that teepee over there at the left, thanks to a secret trap door.  You can see the Mayflower we built up there at the top left - it literally crosses the top of the stage to simulate all of us crossing the Atlantic.  And yes, that's Plymouth Rock there at the left.  We bumped into it.  On top of that you'll see Cliff and Rocky, our resident rock puppets, who are still with us to this day.  They make cameo appearances from time to time. We're all getting ready for the classic cooking show skit, which has so any bad puns in it, but it's a lot of fun.  Plus, the ending has Gordo imitating Mr. Bean, getting his head stuck in the turkey:

That old turkey is currently in my office.  We'll get it back to the prop room soon, but we had it out and ready for Thanksgiving.

Today we were out and about a few times, including a visit to the chiropractor early on.  Mom needed that, as her leg has been somewhat out of whack lately.  We stopped by the library to pick up a movie that we watched tonight, "It Happened on 5th Avenue."  With all the Christmas movies I've seen, I'm surprised we never watched this one yet.  And it was a real gem of a movie.  It must have gotten lost amongst the other Christmas movies of 1947, including "Miracle on 34th Street" and "The Bishop's Wife."  In any event, this was just what we needed, a fresh new - old - Christmas movie to sit and enjoy.

Mom was doing some cooking today, getting ready for "Turkey Day,"  using one ingredient that Nana and I went out to go get:  chicken livers.  Yeah, that doesn't sound too delicious.  But the trip to the ice cream shop was delicious.   Maddie and I got some ice cream, and we picked up some for Mom too, and that was nice.

It was a nice day today, a relaxing one in some ways, although the situation with Nana has not changed tremendously.  But we prayed tonight, and we read some more about Nicholas St. North and Katherine, and a wizard named Ombric.  It's been a fun read so far, a good set up for a later movie. And after we read, we were off to sleep a good night's rest...
