Adventure camp continued today, starting out with some exercises and indoor activities, including of course the world-famous ninja obstacle course! Each student tries to get through as quickly as possible, also trying to accomplish various challenges in order to avoid certain point deductions. Madison loves it, and has been really enjoying the entire camp. She's glad to be with a good friend of hers, but she's enjoying the fun with everyone else too.
Immediately after camp this week - at least on Tuesday and Thursday - she has taekwondo class as well. So it's a long day for her. She goes from exercise and nerf gun fights and ninja obstacle courses, and has been pretty worn out by the end of it all. She's got a tab on the refrigerator there, able to pull out a drink each day to help rehydrate. Of course, Mommy packs a lunch for her as well. This week has been nice, because there were packed lunches given to the church by the local school system, leftovers that were going to waste. We were able to give some away to a family we know, and we ourselves enjoyed the meals as well - there was so much in there. Daddy is enjoying the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and has actually had two school lunch chocolate milks. And here's where we take a pause to discuss school chocolate milk. Though restaurants and chocolatiers have attempted to replicate the formula, the idea that anyone can make anything as delicious as school chocolate milk is preposterous. Simply put: school chocolate milk is the best there is, and may be one of the greatest drinks there is. I took with great joy these small cartons, drinking down this precious beverage as if it were the last thing I would ever drink.
Anyway, today we were working on our Space Camp series, making lanyards and also... THE BUTTON.
Eventually, we'll make a label for this. It'll say... "THE BUTTON." As for what the button actually does, that's in the skits. That's coming soon enough. But Mommy did a great job creating this. With a label on it, there'll be just enough mystery behind its purpose. We'll be filming all three of our skits then, and it should be pretty fun, and certainly a wonderful time getting all the actors back together again.
Tonight we started "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." all over again - Madison has never seen season one through season five, so we'll probably be doing the whole series from scratch again. So today we watched episodes one and two, meeting Maria Hill and Nick Fury again, along with Agent Coulson and his team. It's been a while since we went all the way back to the first episode, but it's amazing how far it's come since those early days, character-wise. We're not telling Madison all that happens in the upcoming episodes, though no doubt she may already have ideas about certain characters. Madison, don't read ahead - let it all be a surprise, like it was for us!
We said our prayers tonight, and we read a bit. Tonight we were in bed a little earlier, mainly because we're up a little earlier. Regardless, the week is starting to wear us all out a bit! Going to camp is fun... the waking up earlier part is taking some getting used to!
