Today was Palm Sunday, a full day of all kinds of activity. Of course, it all starts at church, where you can see here above we had a full cast of Biblical characters, including a donkey! We told the story of Palm Sunday, and you can see here just for the display we had Cliff and Rocky, a couple of rock puppets we made way over ten years ago now for KidPak.
In our fun twist on the stage story, they popped out and scared off the Pharisee, the one complaining about the people worshipping Jesus. The rocks cried out, and scare that Pharisee off. But we had a wonderful moment before then with all the cast waving palms, as they played "Let the Weak Say I Am Strong." It was a wonderful moment, a nice recreation of what Palm Sunday is.
Madison and her friend Skylar were the rock puppets this morning, so they played a classic role that we've been doing for quite some time now. We did the rock puppets at the old church building, what is now called the "north campus." We made those rock puppets in the garage at our old house, and they're still crying out, all these years later.
After service, we continued our Palm Sunday tradition at the church with palm crosses!
We ordered palm leaves for everyone today, and Daddy printed up a new "How to Make a Palm Cross" papers for this day, and we were off and running.
Madison made a whole lot of these crosses, as you can see above - with a bit of help from Daddy. We made quite a few of these in between services, and Madison handed them out to various volunteers, to their delight. It was a nice service this morning!
One story making its way across the state this morning was a potentially powerful storm system that had been the source of much stress and worries. Fortunately for us, we were spared the troubles other states west of us had. There was a great deal of wind and rain, but not the trouble that we were fearing. That was indeed a blessing for us.
We got home, and did some piano as well as a bit of cleaning up. Daddy did some writing, and early evening, we started a movie that we used to watch as a tradition this time of year, "The Ten Commandments." Madison has never seen it, and she was with Mommy on the couch, completely focused as the Bible story was told. Isn't it a great movie? Some of these old movies are just completely epic. We didn't finish it though - we'll have to do that tomorrow. But it's a really well done movie. Each time we watch it, we forget how well done it is.
Afterwards, it was bedtime, and time to start a new Neverland book, one called "The Bridge to Neverland." We're back to normal school this week, although the other grades are doing the Milestones testing. But Madison will be back to regular hours and regular classes, so we got to bed at a regular time tonight. It was a great day today, a memorable Palm Sunday!
