Easter Cookies

This is the template for a craft we'll be trying out tomorrow.  Daddy made this with the idea that we'll cut out the white area, making it the "window" for another sheet that will go immediately behind.  That sheet we'll either make a painted sunset or a stained glass window with sheets of colored tissue paper.  The silhouette in the front should help the cross stand out, so it'll be nice.

Madison was at school today, of course, and there she was learning about the different layers of the atmosphere, starting with the troposphere and going upwards from there.  She was also continuing her study of statistics, along with a bit of research as to why Toys R' Us went out of business.  Seriously, they were researching the factors for this happening today, and came to the conclusion that Amazon killed it, just like Starbucks killed the small coffee shops.  But there was also another discovery that Daddy didn't know:  less kids being born.  Interesting.  Anyway, she was doing a bit of that today as well.  She got a 100 on her science quiz, and all is well.  The seventh graders are taking their Milestones tests, so in one of her classes, they watched the first part of "Toy Story 3."  I haven't quite figured that out why, but the students liked doing that.  Who wouldn't?

Anyway, we got home together, and were off right away to taekwondo.  Daddy was right there in the window in front of her side - she was doing these high side kicks, some jumping side kicks, and they were just amazing to see.  She's doing so well with her form and speed of the kicks, and the height too.  Her teacher was impressed as well!

When we got home, Mommy had a surprise for us ready!

We were making sugar cookies for Easter!  There were different shapes:  bunnies, eggs, and butterflies.  Yes, it's been a week for butterflies.  But you can see below that they all came out pretty well!

This is one of those things that take a long time to do for both of us.  Mommy makes about three trays of the basic cookie shapes, while the two of us sit there and try out different ideas with our decorations.  Some are standard ideas:  bunny faces, stripes on eggs, patterns on butterflies.  But then there's this:

Madison did that one.  It's an obscure character from Gravity Falls.  We watched another episode of that tonight, one with zombies and karaoke.  But the cookie making was fun, something we spent a while doing.  Take a look at Daddy's glum cyclops bunny:

Oh, and here's a pirate bunny:

Mommy said he looks like that US Congressman from Texas.  Here's one below with those radical glasses that you used to find at places like Six Flags:

It's a Rad Bunny.  Or a Jive Bunny.  Whatever it is, we had fun making Easter Cookies tonight.  Mommy cooked up the eggs, and some time later this week we'll be adding dye to those, coloring eggs.  We'd best start coming up with some ideas now for that!

We read some from "The Bridge to Neverland" tonight, and from our devotional too.  Also all the other nightly traditions as well.  It was a nice day today, but it's late now.  We're ready for a good night's rest.
