Beach Photos

We had a nice day today.  There were storms that have been forecast all week, but they never really materialized here in Daytona.  The skies were overcast from time to time, but otherwise, the weather was perfect.  The temperature certainly was.  We took advantage of it, and went down to the shoreline for a nice, long walk along the beach.  Inspired by Madison's recent leanings towards photojournalism, we let her use the camera as we walked along the sandy shores.  Here are the pictures she took, which turned out really well.

She has a great eye for photography.  Afterwards, we showed her how to crop pictures on the computer, and bring out the color or do other adjustments.  There aren't many adjustments made to these though - and she took every single one of them.  She did a great job, and she enjoyed it.  She marched along with the camera, taking a lot of photos as Mommy and Daddy walked along the shore.

Last time we were here, there were a lot - a lot - of sea butterflies along the shoreline, these sharp little needles that easily got caught in swimsuits, and feet.  This is brought up because we are in a different season, and there was an influx of something else washed up on the shore:  jellyfish.  There were hundreds of them, found in so many places along the landscape, like the victims of some horrible battle.  It has been Daytona's D-Day for the jellyfish.

You had to watch your step the closer to the waterline.  But we made it back to the condo safely, so no worries!

It was somewhat of a relaxing day today, a day to do nothing, and we got a whole lot of that done.  Daddy wrote a skit for KidPak for the satellite campuses, and finished the book he was reading.  Madison was doing sketches in her art book, and playing games on her device as well.

There were a few chores today, a trip to the bank and some tennis matches to watch.  Tonight, we had a nice meal together, and of course a big ice cream party as well.  Afterwards, one more game of dominoes for all of us, one where everyone one at least one game, and lots of fun for all.

We went to bed at a reasonable time afterwards, possibly a bit tired from the late night last night, or perhaps the sunshine or maybe the allergies.  The pollen is strong, even down here.  It's something you don't think about so much, being at the beach.  But pollen is a formidable force this time of year wherever you are - Daddy has been taking medication all week to try and help with the lungs.

We did a little bit of reading tonight, inching closer to the end of this next Neverland book, and then we said our prayers for a good night's rest and safe travels.  It's been good.
