Milestones

So here we are on day one of the Milestones, a three day slog that Madison describes are "boring."  Another more accurate term she uses is "tedious."  These tests have changed their names from year to year - for my generation, we had the IOWA tests, and I also remember recently these were CRCT tests.  Now, they're called Milestones.  I think that the Iowa Tourism Industry took a big hit from people of my generation taking these tests, because when you want to go somewhere to relax and suggest the name Iowa, the first thing that we think of is this dreaded, tedious and yes boring testing week.  Similarly, Madison's generation is going to hate it when people use the word "milestone" associated with anything, because the first thing they'll think of is a tedious, boring test.

It's not the entire day, but it is a few hours of testing that she - and all the other students - do not like.  That qualifier might be a bit much, as I'm sure there are a few that enjoy it, the same way people enjoy vaccine shots or writing term papers.  Madison said there was one boy who said he loved it, but he was obviously either joking with her, or clinically insane.

Daddy came home when Madison got home, so the whole family got to spend an hour together or so.  We read from the devotional, and a few more chapters from Neverland, or at least London, where this adventure is taking us.  We also watched an episode of "Gravity Falls," one that was called, "Summerween."  And now, from now on, June 22 is Summerween for us, a Halloween-themed day based on this episode.  These have been great, as you can see we've been binge-watching to the point that we'll be done with the entire series fairly soon.

Tonight we were having fun with some skits and material at the church, including a mad-lib Daddy wrote about the Pool of Bethesda story.  With that, some other things too, including "the characterization bus."  That was fun!

But it's always good to be back home too.  Madison went to bed early tonight because of the continued Milestones tomorrow.  We're not terribly worked up about these tests, and fortunately neither is she.  It's not that big of a deal at this point, and we know she'll do well anyway.  Her average is very high in each class, and things are going well, academically.  We're very, very proud of her.
