First Monday in October

We've been starting our work on the new Dr. Seuss series upcoming, and it's going to be fun writing the devotional for that.  Daddy decided to write the devotional entirely in rhyme, and I'm hoping it all works out.  For starters, we'll read the Dr. Seuss books we have in the house, but fairly soon, I'll be going to the library to check out a monster stack of books, some I've never read before.  All of them are classics, and some are quite special.  Here's the devotional entry I've written based on "One Fish, Two Fish."

“How you made me is amazing and wonderful.  I praise you for that.  What you have done is wonderful.  I know that very well.” Psalm 139:14 NIRV

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish,
big fish, small fish, old fish, new fish!
From there to here, from here to there
funny things are everywhere!
None of them is like another.
Don’t ask us why – go ask your mother.
She’ll tell you simply, READ THE BOOK.
She’s like a Nook, who has a hook
And on that hook, there is a book
That book’s the Bible, take a look!
Read inside!  You will agree
That God created you and me!
He made it all and everyone
Things in the dark and in the sun
Look around and you will see
A great big world for you and me!
From Mr. Gump’s seven hump wump
(which is so great on which to jump),
to that creature found down at the park,
now in our house, the one named Clark.
The world is such a unique place
A perfect spot, hanging in space
It’s filled with awesome things to view
But the greatest thing He loves is YOU.
In His image you are designed
Like everyone in humankind
All made different to do our part,
and He loves us each with all His heart
A guy named David could not stop praising
He said God made us each amazing!
You can find that verse in the book of Psalms.
Don’t ask us where. Go ask your mom!

Meanwhile, Mommy was making art as well, continuing her practice with pour art.  Madison had piano class tonight, which is always a quick thing - she gets home, rushes through a quick meal, and then races with Daddy or Mommy off to piano class in town.  It went well though, as it has been.  It's been somewhat quiet there, but she keeps practicing and we hear in the house when she practices, playing certain pieces like this one called "Snowfall," or other ones that sound pretty nice.

We've been working on things at home while she was playing, such as building the Rock City mailbox and staining the post it is mounted on, and a few other things.  We were catching up a bit today.  We've been studying too - we're coming up on the end of the first quarter, and so far Madison has been doing pretty good.  Math has been a bit of back-and-forth between an A and a B, but she's been doing her best, and that's the best you can expect.

It was a fairly quiet day though, and that's just fine of course.  We need these sort of in-between days.  We had a pretty fun end-of-the-week, and it's good to take it easy somewhat, which is what we did.  We read, we prayed, and we said our goodnights a little early tonight.  We're catching up on rest too.
